You want to replace a recessed socket with a surface mounted socket in order to run trunking from it?
If that's the case and they are both double sockets then just drill out the accessory screw holes on the surface box and you'll find it lines up nicely with the recessed box. If its a single...

The space is a room within a church. It is 20 square metres in total. 2metre high ceiling and will be used sporadically for a few hours at a time.
With this in mind I think infrared may be the best way.
These are the ones that the church have found and seem keen...
Have an odd request. Customer wants a floodlight without sensor but a timer function so that when they turn the switch on it comes on and then turns off after a set time.
My first thought was a timer switch of some sorts. However, I was thinking if it was possible to install a standard...
I won a unilite on a YouTube comp. I have to say I'm not that impressed. The on button is really glitchy, it works fine for about 10 mins then stays flickering. Give the on button a fondle and stays flicker free for a good 5 mins. Batt life ain't the best either.
Glad I didn't buy it

The previous motor was wired in 5 core, 6mm S/Y, through a 32mm compression gland.
I would prefer to make the S/Y off with a proper cxt gland.
A cxt32 is the size I will need. I am not sure what size the...
Unfortunatly it's not a site, it's a side job for a friend.
All I have as options are a bench vice, some mole grips, pipe wrench and clamps.
Starting to sound like a scenario post from tbe trainee section haha
I forgot I had a small conduit job tomorrow and I left my conduit bender at work. This means I dont have any kind of vice to hold the 25mm galv whist I thread it.
Any imaginative ideas on how I can thread it without any kind of vice?
I have some clamps but no vice so to speak....
