Is there a chance Dual RCD Consumers could be "banned " from rentals soon?

Banned by who? BS7671 is never retrospective , i would leave until rewire then go with rcbo or Afdd as appropriate

    Is my ASUS Laptop fixable?

Try it on a monitor or even a tv , unless it’s a high end one a screen and hinge kit may cost more than it’s worth , data can be usually be backed up with an external hdd or Ssd enclosure .

connecting CO alarms to smoke alarms

I also enquired this at aico technical , they said : they would normally discourage this practise due to the different actions the resident should take in CO vs Smoke alarm. They then said its an advantage to hear the CO alarm and talk about the Ei1529RC, and also if RF modules are in use the...

connecting CO alarms to smoke alarms

any BS 5839 experts know whether CO alarms should be connected to the smoke/heat alarm system ? after completing an efixx CPD it seems they should not be , however multi alarms detectors exist with an optical and CO alarm in one unit and while that unit on the aico lights up to indicated CO or...

    UK DC/DC Voltage Conversion

As long as the startup time for the regulator is longer than any capacitor on the output that might be a good idea , or a large power resistor roughly equivalent to the resistance of the load.

    UK DC/DC Voltage Conversion

As long as the switching of polarity is done after the converter I don’t see an issue

    Megger X1 PEFC readings

I see what you mean now , i think i read it as swapping the leads in the meter, would it not be better to conduct and R1+R2 then add it to ZE?

    Megger X1 PEFC readings

Swapping line and earth can’t be a good idea , my Kewtech would refuse to test if it thinks over 50 volts on the cpc

Which test leads ? Meter without leads

I believe it’s an insulation resistance meter so it’s max voltage may well be 1000 volts , this however is most likely limited to 1 milliamp , if there is any chance you will be using this in a work environment you should use GS 38 test leads

EICR FI faults holding up Satisfactory certificate.

I have traced unknown circuits that have ended in a cut cable with C1 code due to live parts , if you don’t know what the circuit does you cant say it’s safe

Which test leads ? Meter without leads

Are they not just standard 4 mm test leads ?

EICR FI faults holding up Satisfactory certificate.

I have been known to disconnect untraceable circuits to complete a satisfactory EICR , it maybe an idea to leave these circuits switched off for a week or so and see if it causes any problems .

Wiring brake light bar into twin filament bulb

I would imagine that they are all 12 volt if it’s for a car , you just need to get the + and - the correct way round and splice it in parallel with the existing lamp connections

Wiring brake light bar into twin filament bulb

Yes if it the voltage as the current brake lights, and it’s either a 2 wire system or the same polarity ie negative earth as it’s called

Kewtech kt1700 single pole voltage detector device

My Kewtech 2 pole tester also does this if you touch a pad, i cant see how this is different to a neon screwdriver , this single pole tester does that even with gloves or if no one is holding it,I was investigating a possible broken pen fault recently (it was not) a 2 pole tester is useless in...

Kewtech kt1700 single pole voltage detector device

I have now purchased one and it seems to be for useful for testing for pen faults which a 2 pole tester won’t detect

RCD without neutral 2 phase supply

I don’t think you can I have never seen a 3 pole (RCD) Residual Current Device and how could it work to detect earth faults which are single phase

Kewtech kt1700 single pole voltage detector device

Has anyone used one of these KT1700 - Kewtech - https://www.kewtechcorp.com/products/kt1700/ and are they approved in place of the usual 2 pole testers?

30mA Type A RCD Protection for EV Charger? Y/N? (TESLA Gen3)

As long as the cable does not require an (RCD) Residual Current Device ie swa then no as Tesla supply one in the fitting I assume ?
