TT system do I need to fit a main switch or time delayed RCD switch?

Also use a tails gland and clamp if available and make sure tails are secured to a wall. The danger here is a live to earth fault in the Consumer Unit

    Isolating switch needed?

It appears to be a double pole (RCD) Residual Current Device so if it connects to that it should be fine

    Rcd tests

You should test (RCD) Residual Current Device or rcbo with no load , a milliamp clamp test should show any leakage current

    NICEIC Test Sheets

I use icertify and it's quite good now, been using it for over 5 years,it was not so good then. No Internet needed until you need to email the cert or report.

Junction Box Connection for AC Cables

Use wago connectors instead, much easier and safer I think

    External lighting and wiring requirements

If none of the other circuits on the shared rcd are using power it won't trip, otherwise make sure neutral and earth don't touch at any times

    W2D3…. EV charging question

We a 22kw evse at work but I don't think many vehicles can use all that, there not really a charger they just supply the AC power when the vehicle ask for it.the charger is in the vehicle, unless its a fast DC charger.

    EICR and outside lighting

You can and should set the next inspection set upon what you find during Inspection. If you was to find all glanded watertight boxes siliconed along top and sides with good quality fittings this would attract a longer inspection interval than cheap fittings that are not so well wired.also if...

At what voltage should a 1.5V battery be replaced?

You could put a 50 ohm resistor in parrellel with the meter leads that should load enough to simulate a remote, though as above easier to change them when remote range reduces or stops.good quality batteries should last many months

    Delayed tripping on RCD

I would be puting a low current amp meter round the line and neutral tails, set to hold the max reading, also ramp test the (RCD) Residual Current Device, turning off various circuits and /or disconnecting the neutrals if needed may help trace the problem.

How much surge in voltage should be in the surge protector? (Min and Max range)

these are usually MOV’s metal oxide varistors or sometime spark gaps , these change there resistance with voltage,im fairly sure the lower voltage means little ,unless there is some other devices (relays, contactors or electronics) that wont function below that.170V is safe for appliances though...

Has my UK property had its 10 year inspection performed correctly?

the trouble with BS7671 is we are told to test to the latest edition.but we have no weighting or severity of how bad each failure to meet current regs is, the version its installed to make little difference other than to see if they did a good job at the time. we mostly all agree that (RCD)...

Has my UK property had its 10 year inspection performed correctly?

quite difficult to avoid rcd on all circuits these days ,all sockets, domestic lighting , bathroom or passing though bathroom, buried less than 50mm in a wall. of course thats for new work, if renting out i would want that for my tenants

    lamp post eicr code

just wondered how everyone else would code this lamp post. the original installer made a type of swa gland from copper pipe and a BS88 clamp. they also issued a 12 year inspection date. its all just a thought exercise now as i have added a proper lamp post cut out with swa 20s glands.
