I think maybe your teacher is looking for what would be written on the report and what immediate actions might be required.
There is a clue in the type of conductor it is and its main function. So if you have such a high reading without further investigation you cannot determine the cause...
Yeah, it all does seem a bit ad hoc.
My guess is that if the scheme bodies make the assessments more stringent and the electricians have to be more thorough to pass, then in general they probably feel that the vast majority are going to stay compliant throughout their jobs. Obviously there will...
As tim & pc have already mentioned we need more detail on the type of lights and what actually happens, and whether the 2 occurrences are related or not, i.e happen independently at random intervals, or both at the same time?
Yeah the report does seem pretty legit, though there are some discrepancies. On the check sheet 3 x C3's are noted but in the summary only the lack of AFDD & SPD's are mentioned. Since there are no C1's & C2's then the report should read satisfactory, which it does state in the summary section...
Yep good point,
This is standard and good practice for most firms. The biggest mistake many people make when running a business is to not making sure that ALL costs are covered and with some contingency when quoting jobs. Its quite easy, especially as a sole trader, to neglect hidden costs or...
This question cannot answered accurately in any detail over an internet forum. In order to answer your questions you need the advice of an electrician who can come an survey the site first-hand. (as already been advised)
Some really great advice so far!
I think the key thing transitioning from employed to self-employed is that all of a sudden you are lumbered with the full responsibility. This can be very stressful and worrying, and certainly takes up masses of time, that you probably had spare previously...
Did you ask what legislation he/she was referring to? There are guidelines and standards that have to be adhered to and special locations, things like bath rooms etc require extra measures and have more restrictions for electrical services, though a utility room doesn't generally come under this...
There will usually be:
Supply usually marked - + & - or 0v & 12v
Tamper - usually marked - Tamp
Trigger - usually marked - Alarm
Older or different make sensors maybe marked up differently. You would link out the trigger/alarm terminals.
Someone more knowledgeable may advise...
Ok, so to find the fault the simplest way would be to loop out at each point one at a time until the zone cleared, unless you come across a loose/damaged wire. The factory set engineering code on texecoms is usually 1234, unless it has been changed.
Are you saying that the 2 door sensors and the 3 shock guards are on one zone? This would be very unusual.
Assuming you mean one of the zones are open then the panel will indicate which zone it is by the number led lit up/displayed. Without knowing which zone is linked to which detector then it...
Not been past many jobs lately but I often have to drive past my old house which I sold back in 2004. I bought the house in 96 it was derelict and I spent many hours and lots of money grafting to get it liveable and then over the years made further improvements. I can't help but look to see what...
I agree that this will help reduce the general public messing with items they shouldn't, but it won't stop the dodgy "tradesperson" from using an impact driver inappropriately, or any tool inappropriately for that matter.
Unfortunately with the on set of battery powered tools came the onset of...
I've been guilty of using my impact driver to whizz up the slack on occasion. But always stop short of the impact action engaging and tightening the screw.
It's often the "tool" who's using the tool that's the problem. Using an impact driver to "tighten" terminal screws is idiotic.
Yeah, the term "waterproof" is an unusual phrase to use. Also why would you need a higher IP rating for a socket inside a cupboard? Its not likely to get wet unless a pipe burst or the sink leaked really bad. Certainly unrequired, unless of course you want to really go the extra mile for...
Quite often its faster and easier to cap over the cables than clip them direct, (depending on the situation) It also often adds to the benefit of allowing slack to be pulled in the event of a cable being damaged at the accessory, and then left too short for re-termination.
In fact, an...
Seen this many times, quickest solution is to turn the socket upside down, on some single back boxes with the 4 fixing points you can turn the socket sideways, not pretty but a temporary fix till the socket position can be altered.
A novel way of using some old off cut of waste water pipe left by the wet pants. I guess 10 out of 10 for recycling effort, -10 out of 10 for functionality.
