Paid electrician, is this right or normal?

Personally speaking, yes I would have done a neater job of the patching in regardless of what was agreed. But that's just my own pride and OCD kicking in. But we don't know the full details, what was agreed with costing, finish etc... If the OP wants to share that detail and maybe we would be...

Paid electrician, is this right or normal?

Not sure it was an attempt to make to a good finish, looks like just some rough bonding in readiness for the finishing coats/s to me. Though not the neatest of jobs, we don't know the full details on what was agreed etc... to comment on the sparky who did the job. So long as the wiring and...

Climate Change is not alone, changers on the way

Climate change is real, the question is what is the "main" cause of it. The Earth has a long history of climate change, long before industrialised humans. Some argue that industrialised humans are the main cause, some argue that we have just accelerated an inevitable change. Others argue that...

    poor r1+r2 reading

This was something (along with most of the op) that was confusing me also. I couldn't fathom what was being asked. At least now we have some idea.

    Asbestos?

It's worth getting yourself on an asbestos awareness training course, the basic one are usually just 1/2 a day and if you shop around you might get a deal. I did the full course, where they train you to work with non licensed asbestos. There are a few kinds some are worse than others so its good...

sorry if in the wrong place.. but im new

No offense, but a clearer picture and some more detail would be useful. Plus as James said ^^^ if you know nothing about what it is you are looking at then how do you know how to test and what results to expect? How can you possibly test something that you know nothing about?

    Power requirement for new supply

As Lister says ^^^ There are quite a lot of requirements and the loadings of each area need to be determined. A 3phase supply to be split across the areas would be the most suitable. Is it a brand new supply with a new local transformer? The design load per phase will be required to determine...

Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

Not being on the tools anymore I find that using a mouse and keyboard doesn't often cause many injuries. Though I do suffer more now with joint and back ache (sitting down too long and not being used to it). But I can guarantee if I do get my tools out, even for a bit of D.I.Y, I end up with a...

Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

I remember way back when I was a lad and I was helping one of the old timers move some steel sheets. It was winter, the steel was very cold and edges sharp so I found myself a pair of welders gauntlets to wear. The only trouble is you can often be clumsy wearing thick gloves. The old fella said...

    Cable type question

Don't worry, its usually the "under thinking" that creates problems and poor workmanship.

    Cable type question

So the old, jam in a 2.5mm 3 core flex cable along with a cut down 6mm bolt as a fuse into a plug top is not an option then? Joking aside, I have come across such things many times especially on things like welders etc...

    fixing to fence?

Which ever way you decide to do it, the main thing to think about is, make sure its adequately secured and not easily dislodged and safe under general use, and is positioned so that it is less likely to get damaged by gardeners/ground staff etc... when they are doing their general maintenance.

    fixing to fence?

Do You have to fix to the fence? not sure this would be suitable. Can you not install a dedicated post arrangement set in concrete?

    Help choosing wire sizes

The site, the incoming supply characteristics, the cable run and the distribution requirements will need assessing by a professional electrician to determine what type and size of cable is required. This will be an expensive run of cable and should be designed properly.

Is Part Pee fit for purpose / who is policing this scam ???

I think there are 2 main reasons: 1. Costs in general are higher than ever and profit making at all costs is more of the focus than ever, so materials cheap to manufacture is important to the companies as competition is higher than ever. 2. Modern life is fast paced, since the birth of mobile...

No question, but i personally find domestic work more ("fun") than commercial & industrial... change my mind.

I was single and the ladies were single in both cases for me, one in particular I had a long term relationship and we ended up having a child together. I also avoid the flirtatious ones, as you say its not worth the hassle.

What perks have you enjoyed then over the years doing domestic? For me I met some really nice people some who became my friends. I also met and had relationships with a couple of ladies (not at the same time, before anyone comments). I have also, though not often received a decent tip.

Is Part Pee fit for purpose / who is policing this scam ???

I agree, the scams are a waste of money and time, unless they are policed properly and actually achieved what they were designed to do (assuming the main goal was safety over profit). However, the conscientious folk out there who are genuinely trying to comply who are conscious of safety and...
