    What size is this supply?

I have the impression they told him to downgrade whenever he could. It would be fun if hubby had high current drawing equipment in his rear workshop the DNO man never knew about. Why did he make a phone call to the depot? That makes no sese. Maybe he was told to drop the rating before going -...

    What size is this supply?

He is having PV panels on the roof to heat the DHW cylinder. Even this will make no impact.

    What size is this supply?

Something tells me he was downgraded - just a hunch. If he was dowgarded to a 60A fuse, which does happen, you will find the DNO would have marked out streets or an area then put 60A in the lot. Or ensured 60A was inserted when a smart meter was fitted, as take up may be enough to make a...

    What size is this supply?

Not yet, he is assessing what appliances he needs. He wanted a high kW five ring induction hob which draws a lot of amps. I told him to go for an Induction hob that runs off a 13A plug if he can only have 60A. He may have to use a Garo priority box to cut out the heating and/or EV charger while...

    What size is this supply?

I think the newish looking seal is the give away. It would have been put there when the meter was changed. Nevertheless we do not know, until the fuse is looked at, and the incoming cable assessed of being capable of supplying 100A.

    What size is this supply?

He said he thinks that 60A label was put on when he went over to a smart meter. If you look at the seal it looks newish, which may indicate the fuse was downrate, being initially a 100A fuse.

    What size is this supply?

Every 60A supply I have seen had 16mm cable from the fuse to meter. This may have been an exception though.

    What size is this supply?

I agree. The 25mm tails from the service head to the meter is a give away. If it was 60A from the start, it would be 16mm.

    What size is this supply?

I know DNOs in some areas were putting in 60A main fuses in 100A supplies. I assume to discourage excessive use as their system overall cannot cope. Like some here, I assume this is a 100A supply with a 60A fuse. So a 100A fuse would not harm anything. If the DNO a number of years back did...

    What size is this supply?

A relative in West Cheshire sent me this pic. He is contemplating having an EV charger and other electrical appliances fitted. He asked me if he has a 60A or 100A supply. From this pic, it looks like a 100A supply with 60A fuse fitted for some reason. He wants it to be 100A. Any ideas?

Replacing a 13A plug fuse with solid brass

Just tell the self centred thought police to keep away. If I do not like a thread I do not go on telling the mod to close it down. I am not that stupid or self centred like that.

Replacing a 13A plug fuse with solid brass

That may be the case, but the points are: 1) a 15A plug can take more current; 2) no fuse avoids a hot spot. 3) a potential hot spot is hidden.

Replacing a 13A plug fuse with solid brass

Just making a point. A 15A fuseless plug without a fuse, as opposed to 13A with a fuse, is more manly being far less likely to overheat. And no nuisance fuse blowing or inaccessible fuses.

Replacing a 13A plug fuse with solid brass

Clearly where the fuse is. If the plug is hidden?

Replacing a 13A plug fuse with solid brass

All appliances cheap and expensive should be safe. Fixing a superior plug minimises fire risk, if faulty manufacture.

Replacing a 13A plug fuse with solid brass

Tumble dryers do. Especially with large families when it could be on for hours and hours on end with continuous loads one after the other.
