    Virgin Media and TV licenses.

    TV licence is out dated! Does anybody actually watch the programmes as they’re broadcast? We certainly don’t, it’s either recorded on the free sat box or watch it on Netflix / catch up tv. (When we get time!) Come on BBC, just show adverts like every other channel and like everyone else they...

    That makes sense, the room i found it in has a calorifier tank, and the actual “boiler house” is at the lower level outside, there’s a flow and return entering from the location of this Bolier house, the stat was located where the pipes enter the calorifier room, the old mini bore pipes...

    Found this in an old boiler room..... It looks like a thermostat, there’s an old 2core micc that’s been chopped off, and also two mini bore copper pipes that connected into the bottom. I’m guessing the mercury must rise with the temperature and activate the switch.....Lucien will no doubt know...

    What is this? Faulty component

    Just a thought here, was the old transformer covered with the loft insulation? If it was, this may have led it to overheating (judging by the melted cover) and failing.

    I’ve seen Vent Axia fans come with transformers the same as in the OPs picture! I remember the older fans came as a proper front unit that could mount into a flush double box.

    Get tapped into that.....free leccy! ;) Seriously though I’m surprised the DNO has done it like that as it’s really open to abuse! At least they should have used concentric cable, that would be difficult to splice into to steal electricity.
