Just for future reference, the red 100a main switch is only a switch, it will never trip on overload or a short circuit fault.
As Westward10 has asked a good question, if the yellow buttons cause the RCDs to trip....then there is power present at the DB, if they don’t, then you have no power.
Wouldn’t trust them to prove something’s dead, but I find them useful to locate and verify circuits particularly where you can’t use a martindale or where FCUs don’t have neons, and you don’t have to unscrew fronts to get at the terminals.
Also handy for identifying a cable you need to trace...
Quite possible the power going off (to the boiler) then being turned back on has caused the boilers circuit board to blow a component....
I speak from experience here, as I did it to my own a few years back....accidentally switched it off, realised in a second, put it back on....blew 3a fuse in...
Nasty things, loose or lost neutrals on main supply.
I remember once there was a neutral fault on a 2 phase supply of a large HMO.
The fault was a bad joint on the DNO cable in the street (ancient PILC).
The underground joint went altogether and the neutral was lost, the fault was only noticed...
When warm air meets cold air you get condensation....so warm air from bathroom entering ducting located in cold loft is causing condensation....insulated ducting is the answer!
I pleased the company paid for it as I feel it was a waste of time and money!
Tutor “ ok, we now fit metal clad DBs....moving on. Anybody heard of AFDDs?.......ok, we now fit them but it’s not currently a requirement....moving on....”
That’s pretty much how it all went, although one thing I...
I did a One day course last month with the exam at the end.
I had previously done the 17th over 10 week (3 hours per week with mock tests)
I found the 1 day course (compared to 10 week) to be very rushed and really can’t remember anything, it was so fast paced! And no mock tests!
Having said...

Incidentally, should the afore mentioned “ghost members” be reading this and feel the need to rate this post with a...
