looking for best step / cone cutter for using on 18th edition consumer units

I use cheap "titanium coated" ones for general jobs. Decent ones are about the £50+ mark. I find the cheap ones do a good enough job. What size are you after and for which job ? I can't think the last time I used one on a domestic consumer unit.

    A Rather Obvious Forged EICR

I miss work like that. Been doing domestic for too long now for it to be interesting every day.

    Domestic work and Corona Virus

I wouldn't bother with gloves unless you're using a new pair after touching something. Regular washing and sanitising is much better.

    Domestic work and Corona Virus

I'm taking it very cautiously at the minute working in occupied homes. Where I have to I'm doing a wellness check for symptoms for customer and me prior to start. Hand gel in van and in toolbox used regularly. Masks used where needed. Distancing always. No accepting of food or drink from...

    Possible AWOL electrician

I would endeavour to maintain the original electrician to complete the job if possible. As you say you will find most electricians will be loathe to take on a half complete job and sign their name to it. This will narrow the field of available electricians greatly in my opinion.

    Possible AWOL electrician

Getting someone else in would be the last resort as it would bring a new set of problems. I would communicate with the electrician telling them where you are at and see what they reply.

    wall chaser

I believe the Metabo triple blade version and the Hilti are top of the tree for chasing tools if you want to invest. I use a £100 erbauer with a Henry type vacuum and it does for me. Good value for the half dozen or so rewires it's seen me through so far. A small amount of dust on the plunge...

Lead sheathed 2 core lighting circuits /EIC

I'd also not be changing that board until rewired. What's the rest of the cabling like ?

CJR Electrical - really poor workmanship video

I was gonna say this. Bit of the Mandela effect going on there.

Need help which contractor to go with

You can, according to regulations, have a wall switch inside or outside the bathroom. If inside the bathroom it needs to be outside zones. Different electricians will have their own conventions and practices though.

    Payment terms

My standard invoice asks for payment within 14 days. On jobs over £1k I may ask for a deposit. On rewires I will ask for staged payments. I play it by ear essentially and see what each customer and job is like.

Need help which contractor to go with

My input. Aico are the brand to go for if you want decent reliable smoke alarms. I would go for an rcbo board as it's the best solution for many reasons. Any of your contractors could factor this in with any of the mentioned brands. BG decorative sockets are cheap and cheap for a reason. The...

    Screwdriver addict...

That's my current one too, a cheapy Stanley one. Also had it for years. Maybe knocking on for 15 itself. Trying to think back to when all my tools got replaced after being stolen.

Can I avoid applying correction factor (Ci) when cable tray passes through a concrete wall?

Well worth looking at 527.2 here to establish the requirements for sealing the cable route. You may need help from your tutor to determine the required fire resistance properties of the building elements.
