EICR Redundant cables in DB, MCB taped over!

You'd have to identify the C1 issue to code that observation surely ? If a C1 is present you should be rectifying it before leaving site. If you haven't identified it due to limitations then it can only really be FI.

    Bathroom fan fuse question

That's fairly quick for an official verdict of a fire investigation. How has the fan been held as culprit ? No not all manufacturers ask for a fuse to be fitted. I fitted one last week that asked for a 3A fuse on the diagram for the standard version, but none at all on the diagram for the...

    Cable prices.....

I think it's over £4k/tonne at the minute.

    Cable prices.....

I don't have to pay for it for a couple of months and I have a good few rewires lined up before the end of the year. I'm banking on that work to dig me out of the hole this year has put me in, so I can't afford to lose out on price to sparkies with stock if cable prices rise significantly. I see...

    Cable prices.....

I made the call to the wholesaler and will pick up 4000m of various sized domestic cable tomorrow first thing. If anything happens to cable like what happened to plaster recently all my lined up work would go down the pan. I think the likes of Toolstation and Screwfix should be fairly stable...

    Hot tub confusion

As above this cable needs sizing properly through calculation and the load demands of the summerhouse use as well as the hot tub taking into consideration. Sizing the cable for earth fault loop impedance values and voltage drop will be more important than the load to be drawn in this case. A...

    Submain rcd fault protection

I'd look at all other alternatives before resorting to RCDs for fault protection.

    Cable prices.....

....are set to rise. My wholesaler confirmed today that next week will likely see a good bump upwards in prices across the board although he doesn't know of what magnitude. https://smallcaps.com.au/chiles-copper-mines-under-threat-virus-spread-price-jerks-upwards/...

UK (UK) Would it be hard for a sex offender to become an electrician and keep a job?

DBS checks are more common these days. They are commonly requested by local authorities for their subcontractor's employees, and larger sites can ask for them too. I would imagine any employer would ask for previous convictions on application. I have no idea if you have to legally disclose...

EICR, Sub Mains from Panel Board

I have installed panel boards with metered outgoing circuits before, but only at customer request. Would be a nonsense to meter separate boards within the same building if it's not been asked for.

    Downstairs toilet... regulations

No zones in a WC. It doesn't fall under section 701. A fan isolator can go in there no worries. Make it easier by using a fan that doesn't require fusing down.

    Running cables in skirting boards

Yeah that would be fine. It would class as a surface mounted trunking system.

    Extractor with rigid ducting

Is the loose fitting verified in practice or just theorised from the data ? Usually 125mm duct fits a 125mm fan. I'd expect the 122mm to be the internal diameter ?

Not for me it isn't. I'm just reconciled that it's never about need. ?
