I have one and they are great. I also have a £5 fibreglass one and that does the job just fine. But I do love nice tools.
If you're an apprentice I'd go cheap and cheerful. Save the Wiha and estwing for later. Estwings are very desirable shiny things for those with sticky fingers on site.
You do know the Wiha one is £30 for a 10 oz toffee smasher ?
You could get a hickory handle estwing for cheaper or a leather handle estwing for a couple of quid more
I think most manufacturers do switchable colour temp versions now. I don't really see much call for them myself as I discuss light colour with the customer before ordering.
Very handy to keep one on the van on a plug top as a sample for illustrating light colour temps.

As you say you could pay yourself wages into a buffer account and then stock your koi pond with ill tempered mutated sea bass as you see fit.
Practice prevention of damage from early on to limit health problems in the future. Use all the PPE you should, don't skimp on decent knee pads and always use them, practice safe lifting procedure, let a power tool take the strain instead of you etc. It DOES make a difference.

They are existing tops in a kitchen which will get completely replaced within 5 years so I'm not too fussed about them being pristine all the time. Just need to get rid of stains and replace the finish to make them serviceable.
