I think you may be well advised with not toying with the idea and staying with the more conventional solution, the other idea seems to be a whole lot of bother for what would end up as a substandard design
Interesting discussion,I have my opinion and it agrees with one of the competing views :)
Where I see a problem is with the op in his opening post describing the cable as they have used a 0.75mm 3 core white flex cable.
He is extra observant or meticulous with his estimate of flexible cable...
I would have no hesitation whatsoever to use old colours:cool:
The only reason I would not do so is if the copper cores had oxidised, the insulation was somehow or other damaged or for some obscure reason I had run out of identification tape or letters

Electrical safety in the United Kingdom is very successful for almost all the population
The powers that be could be considered to be quite successful in...
For me,anything with unseen contacts like a switch or socket, mcb, rcd etc would have to be ditched
Corrosion is likely and failure over a shorter period of time of these items will almost certainly be assured
We do not have any representation on the Union Jack :cryingcat: ( sort of conquered a few years back ) so it may not have the same degree of love that the rest of the UK may feel:confused1:
