From a brief bit of Internet research my understanding is earth leakage circuit breakers monitor voltage on the CPC rather than an inbalance in current between L &N as an RCD does. Is this correct?
It will be to isolate the boiler locally, assume the heating controls and wiring Centre are elsewhere with their own isolator. So there will be a permanent live, neutral and a switched live for the boiler. That 3 pole isolator most likely is to disconect those 3.
EDIT although looking at the...
Evening all, have yet to fit a flush mounted CU, may have one in an upcoming job, a quick google seems to only throw up Hager boards as an option. Are there many other options out there, only got 6 circuits but would ideally like to leave a couple of spare ways, SPD, prefer RCBO's.....
Is there...
User friendly or not, I thought the idea was to reduce the number of C2 or C3's on the EIRC?(improve safety) Adding plug in MCBs doesn't really deal with those. The codings are all regarding lack of RCD protection and the construction material or the consumer unit.
Also, is this a ground floor...
I think the OP is either missing the point or not understanding the difference between MCB s and RCD .
Plug in Mcbs are not going to make any difference to the codings for lack of RCD protection.
If you're installing an MVHR, surely you don't want to be extracting air to the atmosphere with a regular fan as well, that kinda defeats the point doesn't it?
From my limited experience, MVHR units tend to have the fans built into them and just ducting to and from the various rooms.
Have you read any of the replies? Didn't you say that that configuration didn't work? So no dont duplicate it.
As well as the neutrals not being wired into the dimmer, the left hand switch can't possibly be doing anything with it wired like that
Yeah thats all cool, I was more wondering about the equipotential bonding point on the pump, its "recommend" apparently, but how would go about this practically?
Where is it now?
Do you have a pic of the original switch before you re wired it? It would have been a like for like swap
One option is those browns are the wires for just 1 switch (not the neutrals) and the 3 core coiled up in the back box is for the other switch. 2 way switched elsewhere
Hi, a friend has just sent me this snippet from their hot tub instructions asking for advice.
Its a plug in hot tub. Also specified are a 30mA circuit and a 10mA PRCD.
Any thoughts? As I said, its and inflatable, plug in, temporary hot tub
Oh and I second what Zerax said, go straight through the exam , I answered all the questions without the book, any that I wasn't 100% I clicked the flag. That way, I at least had an answer down for everything. Then go back through looking up all that you have flagged. And yes when I did it, it...
I found tabs for the start of each 'part' and a couple of other key points useful, so you can get there really quickly. You can get really bogged down using the index.
More important is to get your head around the overall structure of the book, and what is covered in each part . You should be...
Thanks, I was questioning my understanding thats all. And I love the idea that homeowners can choose from a variety of earthing systems!!! (I suppose in theory you could 'choose' TT)
