How many Downlights can an electrician install in a day?

If you have a plan for the downlights, and all you are doing is cutting out and fitting them then yes, 8 downlights in 4 hrs is slow. Fixed price work versus day rate, you take your pick and deal with whatever the cost ends up as. I had the opposite recently when I took down 3 ceiling lights...

Lighting MCB keeps tripping after changing the kitchen light

Unfortunately it doesn't matter what light you put up, unless you can safely identify which cable is the supply, which is the cable to the switch, and then how to terminate them successfully and safely, then you're going to have issues.

Good Old Delroy, he gets all the best Jobs :)

I know we give poor old del a bit if a hard time on here, but just seen his latest video, poor blokes had his van done over. Scumbags nicked pretty much everything. Anyone got any positive stories of good tool insurance? (Unlikely I know) Also be careful when buying second hand tools off places...

You know you're on an hourly rate when your using a manual screwdriver to fix stuff to the wall.

The money he apparently charges you'd have thought he could afford a laser level, or a least a 4foot spirit.

It may have been added in at some point, and if there's no RCD protection in the consumer unit, is a way to provide RCD protection compliance for the new work. Let's hope not though cos del just removed it....

Unless there was a bit of editing in the video he seemed to be testing the socket under the sink with no fuse in the spur... in fact the client actually says at the start.. "I took out the fuse"!!

Poor isn't it... Notice his lack of replies to the comments pointing it out. The thing is, we all probably make occasional mistakes at work, and realise. He's filmed it, edited and uploaded to YouTube and not realised.

    Inline fan recommendation

1 m of ducting is very short, any fan should be able to cope with that. And it's not even having to extract steam and moist air... don't over think it! But also, don't hide an inline fan in the ceiling void.... terrible idea.
