Peoples "have a go" attitudes to electrics never cease to amaze me....
Would you claim to be no expert but decide to have a go at fixing the brakes on your car for example? And just keep experimenting with it until you found a way on making it work?!
Yeah i kinda get that, but it's not the strongest case, how often are we "doing maintenance " on bathroom fans, at night time, without access to a site light or similar?

Sorry, yes I realise this, what I meant was, if you are fusing down the whole bathroom via a 3a sfs, then this would isolate all the conductors.
On an aside, Personally I think this idea of the fan and lights being on the same switch is a bit daft as well, i dont need the fan to come on every...

I'm not aware of any regs that link plastering directly over twin and earth cabling and the need for rcd protection....capping, conduit or just clips... Makes no difference to requirement for an rcd on the circuit
