Last hot tub (last year) I fitted, I put a separate CU the house next to the main CU which had spare ways but they were on a split load board so I didn’t want any nuisance tripping in the house, I installed a supply to the tub with a rcbo on supply end used 6mm three core SWA at the hot tub end...

    Trunking in house (18th edition)

I’ve just carried out the same type of installation in a flat in Manchester, luckily for me my job was having false ceilings throughout due to the concrete ceilings having cracks along the slab joints, the customer also wanted down lighters in all the rooms so easy for me, we put up the British...

    Car charging point needed urgently......

The approved installers are a good thing really after doing the course this week, there’s loads of minefields that can trip a non compliant installer main thing is earthing. I’ve found there’s loads of very experienced electricians about who think it’s an easy job to install an EV pod at a...

    EV charging point query

Hi there In the new wiring regs you can’t swap and change the breakers or RCD with different makes unless you become the “manufacturer “ and can certify them as fit for purpose as mixed suppliers. You will have to buy a full board by another manufacturer with type A installed such as Hager do...

  17. L

    EV charging question

Yes it does, this is the reason why they say you should go down the isolating transformer route because if you live in a new estate house close together you cannot guarantee safe earthing if you convert property to TT. system
