I confirmed the insulation was in good order. Customer ordered and fitted the snubbers.

You will have at least blown a fuse internally. I have done it myself and it blew a fuse in the meter. Replaced it but unfortunatly I lost half the functions.
Luckily it was a cheap multimeter
