I think I may have the same sort of issue as vort. If I blow into the connections of the leads and the MFT the resistance of the leads drops from around 0.30 to 0.10 and I get much more accurate readings. Moving about the cable at the ports also helps too. I also change leads regulary and...
the Money you spend on a tester, would be better spent on an electrician that can help you. Doesnot take more than half an hour to fault find a storage heater.

Do all your tests and inspections before you rip out the old Consumer unit. If there is anything major that needs repaired that you can’t fix there and then, put it back together and inform your boss.
