A perfectly legal alternative would be to buy an extension lead with six sockets on the end and run the cable through the ceiling to a 13 amp socket. My computer, printer and a couple of chargers are plugged into an extension simply because I don't have enough sockets for them all.
Having an...
My late father put up a small greenhouse at the top of his garden. When he decided he wanted to put an electric heater in there, he cable-tied the lead (maybe 10 metres or so) to the washing line.
The person asking is disabled and sits down to shower. While sitting, he can't reach the controls - hence his idea to fit this shower head.
I agree that it would be far better to have the shower replaced, or maybe just moved, but money is tight so he is looking for a cheap solution.
This may be plumbing or electric but I thought you guys would know:
A friend is thinking about getting one of those shower heads which have a button that shuts the water supply off. Will it cause any damage to my electric shower unit, with back pressure, if he did that?
When I had my house re-wired, I had most of the kitchen sockets fitted a few inches up from the work surface.
A while later I had to replace the dishwasher which lives under said work surface and paid the extra to have it fitted. The guys who came, happily connected the plumbing, but wouldn't...

I am not a professional electrician; I only joined the forum to get some advice about wiring a cooker before getting someone in, but I could not believe my ears listening to the "expert" on JV.
With the wallpaper woman, he waffled on about mcb's and how to cut the wallpaper, when all he needed...
Last question so I know what's expected:
The cable (it is 6mm twin and earth btw) will run down from the celing behind the oven, inside the wooden housing. Will it need to be in conduit?
I havn't ordered it yet - I want to know if I can screw my floorboards down and re-lay the carpets. Tonkatoy referred to 'piddly little 3kW things' - this is a domestic oven.
I am NOT an electrician, and have no intention of doing this myself.
Some months ago, while the floorboards were up for some plumbing, I ran a cable (connected to nothing) from near the main board in the garage, through holes in the joists under the floorboards to the point directly above where...
