Where doubt exists about an extraneous conductive part There may be doubt if an item of metalwork within an electrical installation is an extraneous-conductive-part. For example, it may be suspected that plastic pipework has been installed somewhere along the run of metal pipework. Where there...

I thought extraneous meant it was capable of introducing an earth potential - if it can't - it's just a piece of metal?

    Downlights and the different varieties..

Interesting. I might just have had a near miss after sending mine back before installing. Shame because I like the idea of them.

    Downlights and the different varieties..

Yep. I’ve got a box of them that I’m about to send back. Customer first wanted half cool white and half warm white, then changed their mind to all warm white - but ....... you can’t get them anymore... I’m using Lucecos now.

I pretty sure it’s got to be at an approved test centre. I did my training online with XS then had to go to test centre for a couple of hours to sit the test....

Shower 8.5 on a 40mcb is it dangerous

Agree it does not need changing, and probably better not to. Not so sure 36 amps would cause the overload part of the breaker to nuisance trip though, looking at the curve for it. That would be one seriously long shower!

    Crabtree RCCB not tripping -help!

Thanks Wilco. I certainly considered not swapping out the original - seeing as it passed the 5 times test - as as you say - is only for additional protection. I’ve just swapped it out again - and it’s now working. But - when I tested at the socket outlet - no joy - but tested at the board (to...

    Crabtree RCCB not tripping -help!

I’ve not tested all those protected circuits no. Just the one I have been working on. I think I’ll swap out with another RCCB before tackling that one - off to pick one up now.

    Crabtree RCCB not tripping -help!

Hi all. So the Crabtree old style in my hand failed the I delta n test (times 1). But passed the 5 times test. So I have replaced it with the one in the board. Supposedly reconditioned - and that’s failing both tests but mechanical works. I am wondering if I am missing something here with my...

Definitely not. I tried with 6mm a couple of years ago and that was so tight I nearly gave up. 6mm only just goes.

    2 Gang Double Switch Problem

I count 5 in that left dimmer? The other dimmer is just one way (I think).
