GENERATOR AMP RATINGS - THREE PHASE EXTENDED
3 PHASE AMPERES - 80% POWER FACTOR*
kW Times 1000 divided by (Volts*1.73) *.80
This chart approximates the amperage of a generator based on the size of the generator and the load on the generator at 100 percent of capacity. Please note that this...
Yes getting a qualified person in to determine what is the best course of action is sound advice.
The first consideration being, in this case, what is the socket going to be used for and is it likely to be used for anything other than that purpose.
Yes this is a good alternative. the corridor remains lit all the time at low level then when somebody activates the motion senor the lights go to high level for a timed period.
Unfortunately not very practical, unless you would be happy to trawl through each and every post yourself, if you see my point. The software can do certain checks, but as been mentioned any loop holes will be found.
I'm not surprised. I was once asked to quote on doing a commercial EICR against 2 other electrical firms. I apparently was way off the mark. A month or so later I was asked back to quote on some work. While I was there 2 kids (well at least they had only just left school at best) were walking...
Sorry, thought this was the Electricians forum, not the cowboys forum. If you spured to a 5A socket, how are you going to fuse the TV that is then going to be plugged into it as 5A plugs do not have fuse carriers; the TV manufacturers instructions will also say on the TV lead "this appliance...
Ok, Lee has already explained this but since you are not a qualified spark I will briefly explain it to you in basic lay mans terms.
Its all about potential.
Basically what this means is that current will flow down the path of least resistance, the better the conductor the better the current...

Jen,
Personally I wouldn't just dismiss the idea of LED lights. There are (as mentioned) some variables to consider first before you swap back to the halogen lamps.
1. Make sure the dimmer switch is functioning as it should
2. Swap out the dimmer for a better quality or a normal switch
3. Change...
I have come across wiring done this way many times over in kitchens, its basically laziness by the electrical installer based on the assumption the area is going to be tiled over so the cable is never likely to suffer mechanical damage in the future. The kitchen fitter, though correct about the...
I had exactly this once. I was called out to a house where the RCD kept tripping from the lighting circuit. After a couple of hours testing and searching the home owner decided to mention an old outside light that had "never" worked. The kids had been playing football a while back and had...
A floating laminate, or a tongue & groove solid wood? The solid wood tends to be glued and is generally more expensive and occasionally nailed, (which I doubt the floor fitter would be dumb enough to do this considering UFH is installed, or would he?).
Anyhow if the UFH installer is happy to...
I agree with, it sounds like the mat was damaged during the installation of the floor covering (tiles) and damp has created an earth fault path. If the installer didn't follow the manufacture's instructions and laid the mat incorrectly then its likely any warranty will be void. Some mats are...
As Strima said ^^^
Water ingress can take a while to dry out properly, especially if it has crept into enclosures. It has possibly found its way into more than just the light fittings themselves, switches, junction boxes etc...
An electrician can test the circuits to make sure the wiring is...
It is unlikely something serious would happen before the new c.u was fitted, and the installation has probably been fine for the last 30 years.
But taking a chance, regardless how good the odds are is not worth it when we are dealing with something that is potentially lethal, or rather you are...
