Any recommendations for a simple CCTV and alarm system to fit?

Swann for a basic cctv or Hikvision if you want something a bit better. Go for NVR with IP cameras. As long as the runs are not massive you will only need 1 cat5 from the drive to each camera. I wouldnt got for the old coax style cameras these days

Late to the party. Fusebox DB’s

For the circut breakers sitting a little squint, I usualy fit all my rcbos and blanks, use a clamp to hold them together at the top then do the bus bar. That will help and only takes an extra minute

Hello, Just had a client call saying EVCP was not working. It is supplied via a 'G6EV40PME' from what he was saying it looks like this cut out the supply, I cant remember if this device is self resetting when the voltage monitored is within range or if you have to reset the device by tripping...

lathe tripping after quarter turn on startup ?

IF nothing else has changed and it has been working where its sited it would be where I would start, depending on the motor it might have 1 or 2 capacitors, if there is 2 there will be a centrifugal switch in the motor which is used to switch from the start cap to the run cam

lathe tripping after quarter turn on startup ?

Check is spins freely first if all to rule out mechanical issues. Check the capacitor/capacitors for run/run-start. Usually they budge and leak when they fail but not always so may require further testing. Look to see if it was always a single phase lathe or a conversion from 3phase

    Seem to find time wasters

Keep at it and you will get there. You may be pricing at a point where you are getting compared to joe bloggs in the pub who will do it for £100. Sometimes if you charge more people see the value in what you offer. If anyone calls you I would recommend mentioning your rate on the phone...

Outdoor 32 amp isolator with Aux contact block

Hello, I am looking for some recommendations for external motor isolators with Aux contact block. Ideally large enough to gland 3 cables at the bottom, most likely 3x M20. possibly 2x M25 1x M20 for a few. I have taken over maintenance on a site and most isolators are unserviceable and will need...

VERY quiet ceiling mounted (min IP X4) bathroom fan recommendations?

The problem is straight forward data is not great for marketing and that is the unfortunate world we live in. There is only so quiet a fan can be while moving air with standard blade geometry and as far as I am aware the really high end blade designs found in other applications have not made...

Anyone walked off a job before or fallen out with a builder?

Carry on and get the job done. Keep your head down and if the builder steps out of line inform him firmly but professionally that your way of doing the task is the correct approach. After the job is complete do not take any anymore work for the guy and tell him you are simply too busy for his...

How to start? I'm new to the industry.

I would not be too confident with the training providers promise of getting you a £24 000 a year apprenticeship. If I was to hire you and pay above rates as an apprentice it would be on your ability and experience to get a job done safely and efficiently with minimal supervision and I dont...

What do you say when you've quoted and the customer says; "that sounds like a lot?"

For a larger job I will call or meet the client to discuss what I am estimating, how it will be done, what will be used. That way they can understand the value I am bringing. If they are not sure about the price I tell them we can look at using a lower spec on material to get the price down...
