Just to add to my previous rant lol when the doors shut at closing time in my local and for some unknown reason there are a few of us left inside ahumm the ashtrays come out on the bar and the non smokers dont complain.
The exam in question is the final practical im assuming. It will entail a full installation from a consumer unit with 4 circuits. Radial, RFC with spur feeding a fcu, 2 way lighting and s.w.a into a commando 16 amp socket. There will be pvc conduit used on the rig and steel conduit plus metal...
IMO as a smoker we have had our turn let the non smokers sit outside in the damp cold so called smoking area. The good old days of sitting round a table in the warm pub playing cards with the old boys some smokers and some not no one complained about us puffing on our smoke as we checked our cards...
Hi amarok88 and welcome to the forum.
Doing domestic electrical is IMO not easy at all. I bet there are a few very experienced sparks on this forum that have had to stand back and think hard on some domestic installs as each house is different from the next. Not all electrical courses start with...
Exactly why i didnt stay with the firm a total joke they were. Impossible to do the amount of tests they required properly i.e remove plug tops e.t.c and I would not put my name to any dodgy testing. You are right in saying sticker boys and thats exactly what this firm was.
A firm i worked for has previously charged £50 for the first 60 items then 50p per item after that. I know a lot of dodgy testers are out there I was expected to do 250 tests a day minimum for one firm I lasted a day told them to poke it as there way of testing in large offices and big london...
I was always under the impression that an extension lead is a temporary solution to provide power. If you need an extension lead for permanent power then there is not enough sockets on the mains ring for what you require. With the load you have explained extension leads are not the answer.
Hi Tfo welcome to the forum
for your information I'm currently doing the city & guilds level 3 2365 diploma and it is the follow on course from the level 2 2365 diploma. This course is a very intense theory based course and I find that being in a classroom environment certainly helps me and I...
Personally I think thats a terrible job. He has cut a chase and not used any capping? I have always been told and taught to use some sort of capping, oval preferred but but plastic flat does the job as well as its put in to protect the cable from plasterers trowel. plastic capping is peanuts and...
What a shame for the lad he obviously has worked bloody hard to gain the certifications and only to be told in a computer says no scenario probably by some desk jockey who has no idea. My Initial verification inspection and testing certification is the EAL qualification and I was informed by the...
Hi Albani
If im correct you will need both the NVQ l3 and the AM2 to be fully qualified this will need to be backed up with the C&G level 2 and 3 2365 qualifications as well to be a fully qualified electrician and to gain the electricians gold ECS card.
Hi Jaydub welcome to the forum
Its a shame you are not enjoying the trade you have chosen but believe me the grass is not always greener on the other side m8. If you are just about to qualify as a fully qualified electrician stick it out buddy. Lots of sparks hate house bashing but have you...
Apolagies Karin I may have assumed Leo was a mature student. You stated this course is designed for college kids? I will disagree with you there as will a few other mature students. As for missing days on the level 3, not advisable as its the most intense year connected with electrical theory.
I may be wrong here but the older back boxes had a different thread imperial if im right which when you use the newer faceplates on them the newer faceplates have metric thread screws 3.5mm which are different and can strip the older boxes thread.
I always use the 3.5mm re threading tool on old...
WOW absolutely unbelievable it amazes me how this person thinks its a safe and good way of doing it. So many dangerous practices in the video and he is happy with it. This sure is a warning on D.I.Y videos on the internet of how many dodgy how to videos are out there.
