    Crabtree RCCB and ZS testing

Test at the main switch (as already suggested) and then access the outgoing line by prodding the conductor of the insulated bussbar. Pull the MCB out to do it if necessary.

    Meter tails in cavity

Not really a fair analogy. If you demolish a conservatory, you'll want to remove the sockets and wiring with it. Cavity wall installation is a popular home improvement, ie not unusual. The installers may well be unaware of the cables in the cavity and are unlikely to do anything about it if they...

    Meter tails in cavity

If the cavity is subsequently filled with insulation, the current carrying capacity of the cables will be significantly reduced.

C.K Tools Competition - Stubby VDE Screwdrivers

Looks like a bit of a cock up on the supply chain / stock management side. The three I have look OK for the job. Nice to see that they're slim ones. I'd have been inclined to make them half an inch shorter; they'd still have been long enough to reach down the deepest terminal hole in a Crabtree...

NEW Wago 221 series for 6mm cable

Anybody know of a UK stockist? I can only find them supplied from Germany via eBay. Edit: Looks like Connexbox and Farnell do them.

    Increasing my work load???

Loads of info on here. My usual answer is to get yourself a decent, honest, website. Don't pretend to be a big company when you're a one man band.

Self employment & Pimlico Plumbers court case ...

My thoughts exactly. Pigeons, on the other hand are larger flying creatures, with a propensity for excessive crapping.

Electricians Shorthanded by Carillion? - WTF has gone on here?

Ah yes, I take your point. However, any pension should have sufficient diversification to avoid one failing company (or business sector) overly affecting the performance of the overall fund. And since the Carillion share price has been on a pretty strong downward trajectory since the beginning...

    Power to garden shed

I'd put a duct in the trench. Put it at 600mm down, with warning tape above. Then the electrician can pull in whatever cable he likes and the duct stops the cable being damaged by bricks and stones in the backfill. 50mm Twin Walled Cable Duct - Black -...

    Diy portable power supply

Did you watch the video? Manufacturer claims the Hole Hawg (the small one) is rated for auger bits up to 1¼" and will do 150 7/8" holes on one charge. I find that pretty impressive. The bigger one has a two speed gearbox giving a slow speed of 350 rpm for bigger bits.

Is that aimed at me or former employees of Carillion?
