    Solar Inverter Go Boom Boom

Mines on the garage wall thankfully. We’re fitting 2 additional smokes above all ours at work as it wasn’t detected by the closest one.

    Solar Inverter Go Boom Boom

The AC was locked off when I got to work yesterday morning so not sure. I only got involved when it started to burn again.

    Solar Inverter Go Boom Boom

Not sure, it’s on a gantry so debris could have gone anywhere. It was still smoking this morning so quickly pulled the DC. That was interesting with no isolation…

    Solar Inverter Go Boom Boom

This happened on the works array over they weekend. Lost most of the magic smoke from it, don’t think l’ll get it all back in again. Also fried the DC isolation so couldn’t isolate, had to crack open the emergency rubber gloves and matt. Enjoy!

Solar Panels Can I add solar panels to an existing system without losing my fits

I'm with SSE for FITS, I tick no such box. Maybe a change is due for the OP if so. I doubt the solar police will be knocking at his door, the ROI is the thing I would be worried about.

Solar Panels Can I add solar panels to an existing system without losing my fits

There is no limit on the size of the actual array, but not sure of the implications of certification if you modify the existing installation. But if you don’t tell them, I promise I won’t so who’s going to know? Also have you done the maths for the ROI? It may not be worth it as you already...

    Require URGENT HELP regarding compex 01 & 04 re-sit

It’s a tough course and resitting after 10 months will be challenging. All I can suggest is to read your notes and course book, maybe look for some online videos if there are any up to date ones. Good luck.

Metal blanking plate to protect from wood burner stove?

Going from my wood burner experience, it and the surrounding area gets hotter than the sun so no, a plate will be no good. Can you disconnect/reroute the circuit leaving the cable in the wall? If it’s decommissioned it shouldn’t be an issue for HETAS. Cut the cable off flush, and fill it full...

Has anybody had Ever ready flat plate 13a socket usb outlets … what a pile of rubbish

Eveready - A US battery company. Ever Ready - A now defunct British spin off from the above. Sockets are legit from the US corp but obviosity making a quick buck from badge engineering. That's enough internet for today. See you all in a few months.

    SY, CY None Compliant????

@sunray An edited snippet below regarding grounding at one end and the use of pigtails. This requirement to employ ‘good EMC engineering practices having regard to the state of the art’, is a big problem for electrical engineers, etc., since most of them seem to believe that all that is...

SY cable on EICR again ....

I cannot take a document seriously that describes SY as armoured.

    SY, CY None Compliant????

Did the drive have an EMC filter? Only the high end ones have the integral. (Or did 10 years ago)

    SY, CY None Compliant????

I’ll find the reference today when I get to not the office, it was 7 years ago though and I don’t have the literature anymore due to a job change. I did extensive research on an interesting job that had some ATEX zones and had a crap load of drives, finding a cable to suit both EMC compliance...

    Solar Solariboost+ failed again

What part has failed? Fuses can be replaced easily even if they are soldered in.

Are you sure there are no interlocks?

Passed Am2S buzzing! Ask me any questions.

Will a plane take off on a conveyor belt? Is the toilet roll supposed to come off the top or bottom of the roll?

Solar Spare solar energy, how to measure?

This might be what you are looking for, give them a call to confirm. 1.5kW is a small array, there won’t be many months you will have copious amounts of spare energy. Payback time could be long, I’m shocked at the cost of the diverters. I would recommend the Apollo Gem, mine has been...
