Advice wanted - unhappy with rewire

Also, the cables should have had capping over them before the plasterer does his bit, to stop the plaster rotting the cables. This is a job for the electrician and is part of the first fix

Advice wanted - unhappy with rewire

Hi, looking at those pics, putting back boxes in solid walls, you nearly always end up with larger holes than the boxes, due to the nature of brick/block work and plaster breaking off. As others have said, fixing the face plates back, should be done after the plastering and painting has been...

    I get it, FAST TRACK courses are more than frowned upon.......BUT;

I have worked with some who have done short courses and many from apprenticeships. Firstly, if you’re honest on site, say you are learning, listen, watch, learn and knuckle down to it, you’ll find you’ll be ok. Some people I’ve had from these courses have been really good. Some have been an...

    ECS Grading advice/opinions?

If your Certificate states it was issued in April 2018, that’s when JIB will take your 2 years from, no ifs, no buts. Otherwise anyone can say they did things and try to shorten the time they need to complete to get that approved status. I know it’s frustrating, but the JIB stick to the rules...

Bonding earth to metal furring behind plasterboard.

Behind plasterboard? Hardly likely to be accessible, so not an extraneous conductive part that is likely to come into contact with a person. As above, just ensure the circuits have RCD protection

    MR16 LED Help please!

You cannot have two dinners operating the same lights, they will conflict with each other and burn out the dimmer, transformer or both. One needs to be a switch only

    MR16 LED Help please!

It reads there, that you have two dinners on the same 2 way circuit, is that the case?

Best first step to remedy bypassed domestic RCD box?

What I can’t figure from that pic, is if there was an issue on one of the circuits, why not just put that in the non RCD side of the board, leaving the rest protected? That could be done now just as a temporary measure, there are spare ways there.

Hi, I have a guy works with me who did one of these 2365 courses with a TS4U competitor (he’s ex military and did it as part of his return to civvie street preparations). The Highs an' Lows of the Sole Trader Market

It took me a few years, but eventually you can get a a nice flow of work that you dictate when you do it. It’s a case of arranging your diary to suit you. If you get a good reputation and customer database, it is (fairly) easy to spread the work throughout the year

    Pulsing LED downlights

Either you have no neutral, as you’ve run it from the light switch giving only line and switch line, or is the switch a dimmer? It may not be LED compatible. I think the first is more likely

Why was the RCD not tripping with a N-E short?

As with other replies, I’ve had this where I’ve done some work and tested the RCD on its own. Then constantly tripping due to a fault afterwards. I do think if they aren’t tested regularly they get seized and when you do something to send them off, they realise what they’re supposed to do and...
