Help needed to review quality of distributer box installation

That's the smart money, if someone's connected the earth to the meter it probably is redundant so the drinks are on you!

Does this setup contravene any regs or is it ok?

@SparkyChick maybe i didn't phrase it well, but i didn't have any objection to your definitions which were fine. You also mentioned in your post that it is within the regs, which was the part i tried to quote and respond to. It looks like the disagree rating came from @markythesparky who hasn't...

Does this setup contravene any regs or is it ok?

I wasn'sure if we had resolved that point, assuming we want to use 32a mcb and 2.5mm in the ring part. "A final circuit arranged in the form of a ring and connected to a single point of supply" So i would class the stem of the lollipop to be part of the final circuit, but i wouldn't consider it...

    Extending ring circuit

Agree, in fact even when b&q sent me a voucher for 20% off or similar so i went and cleared them out of mk double sockets and light switches, and one or two other bits. Work the same as any other.

    Partially sleeved earth wire

Agree, you can disregard my post earlier as it's been proved incorrect. Unfortunately it's too late to edit to point out it's now retracted due to being proved wrong

Does this setup contravene any regs or is it ok?

Well true, but i was meaning a 4mm "stick" with a 2.5mm loop all on a 32A mcb. If it were all 4mm or all on a 20A mcb the would be no point making it a lollipop

    Partially sleeved earth wire

Interesting thanks for the information that was something i didn't know, so the sleeving is both identification and "protection" presumably mechanical due to the fragile size The protection is equivalent to that provided by insulation, but it's not actually insulation. So basically equivalent to...

Can tubular heaters be mounted vertically?

I make that 70ml each between us all, right?;)

Can tubular heaters be mounted vertically?

Agree with Pete, but you could just check the instruction leaflet. It's possible there's a thermostats that might cut off early in some models.

    Logic of blue badge parking

Double yellow are not just there to prevent obstructions ie traffic physically can't get through. They can also be there to help traffic flow, improve visibility and improve the street environment. Think of it this way, it's somewhere it's better overall if people don't park, but if you have no...

    lost main lights downstairs

Worth labelling up the fuse box perhaps for next time. Also without the cover on, it's possible to pull out fuses without a tool and expose live parts. Not to mention the parts that are exposed because of the missing fuse. This wouldn't meet the required IP rating. This is not ideal although...

Does this setup contravene any regs or is it ok?

Some people are looking at this backwards. A circuit is not defined topologically(other then a ring). It doesn't matter how it branches and at what points, any collection of points arranged as a tree topologically can be a circuit. If there's an ocpd and some wiring that forms a tree, then by...

    Partially sleeved earth wire

The sleeving is only for identification, there's no need to insulate a cpc under bs7671, hence why it's not insulated in twin and earth. Most people sleeve it all the way for neatness, but to be honest it's harder to be sure the conductor is properly in the terminal of you have a loose sleeve...

Have you ever put your boots in the washing machine?

I take it you're single if you managed to get near the washing machine with two pairs of boots!

    Smart Meter Tripping RCD

Agree completely, that's why I said "cause an imbalance" because I know there are other ways to trip an RCD. I just wanted to get the obvious question about whether it was tested properly out of the way! Given the BG guy has written "power trips out" which is useless without saying what trips...

    Smart Meter Tripping RCD

the only way to cause an imbalance on a downstream RCD is to cause a leak from one of its outgoing live conductors. Even if there is a neutral-earth fault downstream, there would still be no leak as long as there is no potential difference between earth and neutral. If the smart meter could...

    WTF...................................................

    Logic of blue badge parking

blue badge holders can still get ticketed if they are causing obstructions as you mentioned Having said all that, if you or a family member is in need of a badge, you will realise how lucky you are to be able to walk the extra distance. Being able to park just about anywhere because it's...

    WTF...................................................

I agree it's utter rubbish, and completely unfair, but I struggle to think of any law that would be broken, as it's before the remortgage. It's certainly not price fixing, as they are not fixing prices as they would have to prove collaboration to gain a collective monopoly on pricing to...
