    You need to bear in mind what else is on that RCCB, and which could prevent it from operating correctly. It's not just the load you're adding which is relevant - DC from other parts of the installation could render the RCD protection ineffective for your addition/alteration.

    They're not infallible. If this was since the Corrigendum then I would suggest that whoever started it is simply incorrect, regardless of which body he represented. Also Type 1 SPDs are only really relevant where there is an LPS, and would still need to cascade down to Type 2 etc.

    By DC RCD I presume you actually mean the RDC-DD? If so then there's no requirement to test that (although it may be desirable to do so).

    The trip times are for the RCCB, so testing it once will give you those. They're not circuit specific.

    I get what you're saying, although I charged 15 downlights a couple of years back at €80 + VAT per fitting and the customer went ahead with it. I know on paper it makes it look expensive, but to be fair it takes a lot of work to do it.

    I find that measuring out downlights (to avoid joists etc.) can be extremely time consuming.

    If charging by points then each downlight/switch is a point. If people don't want to pay for 40 lighting points per room then maybe downlights aren't the answer!

    It doesn't really have 300A running through it. Each pole should have a maximum of 100A running through it (considering the type of load too, as the 100A rating may be dependent on the type of load).

    I certainly take your point, although if I'm honest when I was finishing my Apprenticeship I never had the intention of ever going out on my own. It was probably largely forced false Self-Employment which made the decision for me, where if you're being forced to register as Self-Employed to...

    Surely that will depend on what is connected to it. And the nominal voltage between phases is 400V (+10%/-6%).

    There is no requirement to test with an adaptor, but it does let you verify that the safety measures are all functioning correctly and also to confirm that the chargepoint functions when changing state on the dials. I wouldn't entertain installing without the adaptor. Can also be useful for...

    I do. That said, there's no specific requirement to test the RDC-DD.
