500kva substation earthing , any qualifications needed ?

Thanks for the responses , had Covid for the last week so heads a bit slow at the moment . It is a mixed site with a full equestrian yard / house and large wedding venue up one end coming through to existing units ( 30 or so ) and a new 21 unit development ending with an existing 5000 ton or...

500kva substation earthing , any qualifications needed ?

We have just taken on a new client who is extending their industrial park. Their previous electrician had been helping with the install all of a totally new feed and 500 kVA onsite substation by UKPN. I received a phone call from the client last night asking if I had tested off , or the...

    120mm to 25mm connection

Although the Glasgow range or the Schneider boards look the dogs dangles , don't forget he is only dealing with 100 amps at the end of the day. Those inline reducers with heat shrink in a suitable enclosure with the joint coming down to 25 mm tails for the final connections , are likely to be at...

    120mm to 25mm connection

We use these with heat shrink , either in an adaptable box or a bit of 4 / 6 inch trunking as a chamber . They are set to shear off at the correct torque.

    Thermal Camera Advice Please

Brought a Flir E5 several years ago for one specific warranty claim on a solar farm ,against ABB. It was worth it for proving their liability and without it I would not of had a leg to stand on. But since then , mates have used it more than us , for things from Bat surveying to looking for...

    UK New electric supply connection

Normally I would say , get a quote from your DNO for their side of the work , for either option and then you will see if you have a larger enough price difference between the two in order to make it economically viable to do the majority of the work yourself. ( Saved one client £36k by doing...

    Supply feed to holiday home

They are quite good , but that particular one would probably only manage a depth of around 400mm and not the required 1000mm Across productive agriculture land. But even with a more substantial mole and blade along with a machine somewhere in the region of 10 times the horse power of the one in...

    Industrial agricultural installlation

Also I prefer to not only stake at the supply incomer and locally throughout the installation , but also tie them all together albeit through the armoured only if not a core as well to give you you what I suppose you could call an earth nest. As of yet I've not been shown why this isn't a good...

    Industrial agricultural installlation

If there is livestock present it is almost impossible to satisfy the requirements not to TT the place . As for segregation ( or what ever it is now referred to in the 18th ) the s type upfront will let you discriminate locally through the installation if design correctly

    Industrial agricultural installlation

If you have livestock , you can pretty much guarantee you will need to stake the place. The 300mA is for fire protection . Have a good read of section 705 .

    Industrial agricultural installlation

Is it just an arable farm only or is there livestock about or likely to be in the future. But what ever the earthing arrangements , you will need an s type RCD to a maximum value of 300ma up front.

NICEIC Certification Scheme Whats going on with niceic

Been with Napit since The beginning of part P personal membership number in the low hundreds , i would say in the early years they were not top of the game , to the point of looking at Elecsa about 8 or 9 years ago . But I can honestly say they have now gone from strength to strength in the last...

Appliances in single phase property damaged by 415v

In fairness to the op , even if he had looked deeper into the fault what more could he have done !? If they are not coming out , that is what you are getting . Admittedly for those of us that have dealt with these , jobs worth ----ers on the end of a so called utilities help line , we would have...

    Adapt and overcome

Elf and who ?! I had to climb down out of it to take the picture , nearly broke a nail getting back in again ? Anyway if they do turn up , all I have to do is claim " no recollection " as that seems to do the trick ?

    Adapt and overcome

Had to mole a new supply in for a cesspit , out of the farm yard straight under a raised vegetable patch and lawn back to the bungalow. Needed a service pit to come out in at the corner of the bungalow and the gate was not wide enough so out came the farm loader ?
