UK Self Certification - Sending Completion Cert to Building Control

Got it. Thx. Now back to my original query....how does this get sent to building control and who sends it?

UK Self Certification - Sending Completion Cert to Building Control

The way I see it: Part P Building Regs mandates work is as per Wiring Regs BS7671. Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) states that works complies with BS7671. Contains details of installation address, installer, tester, test results etc. EIC is used as the Building Regulations compliance...

No. The EIC is the BR Compliance Certificate.

UK Self Certification - Sending Completion Cert to Building Control

As per Part P of Building Regs, once electrical work is performed by a registered competent person, the installation certificate needs to be given to occupier and also to building control. How does the electrician give this to building control? Email? Post? Do they confirm receipt? Do they...

    Torque Talk

You are missing the OP's opening gambit - asking if Torque screwdrivers are mandated....and think it is fair to say that they are not !

    Torque Talk

Well it is. Very confusing. Read my post of a few minutes ago. In summary, "taking account of" does not mean "must be complied with" and also instructions are generally crap....hence the confusion.

    Torque Talk

Quite why this is so confusing is mind boggling....

    Torque Talk

The wiring regulations (Regs) themselves do not mandate the use of torque screwdrivers. However they state at 134.1.1 that "the installation shall take account of manufacturers' instructions". The word "Shall" in British Standards means a requirement, or in plain English a MUST. So the...

    moving an ev charger

You are over thinking this. It's no different to extending power cord on an extension lead.....

    moving an ev charger

How will this impact warranty? The supply cable does not come with the EVSE, and instead provided by installer.... Just extend the cable and use suitable glanded junction boxes....

EV - after few pointers please

Well lets say you are building a housing estate. Developer will arrange for DNO to lay 3-phase in the pavement on each side of the road. That is the expensive part. Each house then needs a feed and here you have a choice of single or 1 or 3 phase cable / cut our, and that's the bit with...

Customer questioning his zappi EV charger.

yeah but "pulling" and "pushing" are great ways to explain it to a lay person... We colloquially refer to an appliance drawing current (hence pulling).

    EV charger on split phase?

Just install 2 x EVSEs, with each hanging off a different phase. EVSEs are cheap, and for you, fully tax deductable. Or pay for 3 Phase upgrade.

Customer questioning his zappi EV charger.

Basics of electricity here....electricity is pulled not pushed. Your phone charger is plugged into a 13A (3KW) socket, yet draws a tiny amount of power, say 5V @ 2A (10W)...

EV - after few pointers please

Yes correct - 70KVA (3off 100A fuses). As with EVSE's, the DC charger can be configured to limit power delivery so the main fuses don't blow.

EV - after few pointers please

Yes. Absolutely. Here's a couple of pix showing junction with main 3P feed in street - my 3P feed curls to bottom and right to the yellow safety tape. I went large on equipment housing. This will house meter (yet to be supplied), 3P Distribution Board, an EVSE, mains sockets & WiFi Mesh...

EV - after few pointers please

Having had domestic 3 phase installed myself last week (in addition to existing 1Ph), it involves: Customer digging suitable trench and laying ducting to edge of boundary. Plus DNO doing the following: 1. Dig & expose cable in pavement / road 2. Run cable to property (via customer...
