    I used to work with someone who had very little knowledge of electrics but was a proper creep around certain people, he went and worked for the NICEIC I dont know in what capacity but if he became a assesor its a very scary thought.

    Social media has opened up a whole new world. So people are just optimising the best they can, its not much different from a friend asking for a job for a friend or relative which still goes on.

    Seems more and more assesors are getting things wrong lately? Does this mean the scams are now employing the Electrical Trainee they seem to like.

    I understand what you are saying but everything has moved on with it, for example there are now forums where you can ask wuestions if you are unsure and get relevant advice or or help

    Like I said preciously, alot of electeicians do work in one particular enviroment but that doesnt mean they will be out of place in others, I certainly wouldn't expect them to be as proficient but at least not uncomfortable.

    By your own admission you need a NVQ to get a JIB grading, in the NVQ you uave to prove you can work with different types of containment, cable etc?

    Why whats difference is there? Its not just about install skills, there is also the sciences involved too

    But why have two different fees? One for the JIB card and one for the scam, surely just one proof of competance is needed? Not lots of scams who have done nothing to help prove the areas in which they supposedly support workers to adhere too certain Building Regulations

    This thread is demonstrating what is wrong woth the trade by using terms such ad domestic electricians, your wither a electrician or you aren't. Yes there are different aspects to the trade but you should still be able to work on any install to a certain comperance as you should of been trained...

    No it shouldnt be used by any of the scams as a entry requirement, proof of competance should be used as entry for them if you need or choose to be in one.

    It its a R1+R2 when doing the “figure of 8” on a RFC. Are you testing at the terminals of the socket or are you testing with a socket tester through the socket itself?

    What does your new contract say about your role? As that will have a large bearing on how much your paid not what qualifications you have.
