I think you may have lost an incoming phase. The American system is a delta connected transformer giving 120v between phases L1 & L3 (but not L2!) and neutral and 240v between phases. See the comparison between our star connected system and their delta connected system in the attached.
I would...
It may be that the existing switch(es) is/are giving a poor connection when making due to the contacts being carbonised (or just poor quality) giving a high resistance connection when turned on. The electronics within the Sonoff unit will be low voltage low current. Might be worth trying a new...
A 5 core flex will be required. To do this the live and neutral to your receiver need to be connected to the existing live and neutral in the boiler together with the earth conductor, then the L1 & Lx connections in the thermostat connected to the terminals that are presently linked out in the...
I think a bit more information is needed to enable us to comment on whether we can offer advice or recommend you seek professional help.
Make and model of the boiler, make and model of the thermostat and maybe a few photos would be a good starting point.
The pictures look as though this work has already been carried out, however, if there are any protection devices on the secondary side of the UPS, I doubt they will operate as there will be insufficient fault current available from the UPS, this means that if any one if the four devices...
SCAM ALERT
Just had a phone call from someone pretending to be from Sky. They were offering discount on the extended warranty on my sky equipment and further discounts on my sky package. I played along with him (even though I don’t have a Sky package!), he then asked me if I wanted to go ahead...
I think that controller is designed for a magnetically released lock latch for use with a standard lock.
The latch is fixed to the frame and will work as normal with a key in case of power failure. When you press the button, the latch has a swivel part which is magnetically released and allows...
Hi, yes you will have to apply to Western Power to have your supply upgraded, you will be responsible for the upgrade work in your property, new three phase distribution board etc and you will also have to liase with your electricity supplier to get your meter changed.
I do not see any reason...
Has he given you any test paperwork? Also this is notifiable work under the Part P scheme, so he should have submitted this to the local council. I agree with SJD it sounds like a neutral earth fault, this should have been picked up if he had tested his work as he should have.
