2365 level 3 complete but never did level 2

As far as i was aware you HAVE to do Level 2 before 3. I would get in touch with someone official somewhere and make sure this is all OK.

Don’t get taken for a ride by electrical ‘Rogue Trainers’ urges industry body

Interesting. I hope you succeed in getting a grip on this - the industry in this country is a mess. It should just be cut and dry - you have to do an apprenticeship or equivalent to touch electrics of any kind. Only once your NVQ and end point assessment are complete can you do this. If you...

Don’t get taken for a ride by electrical ‘Rogue Trainers’ urges industry body

There's no 'agree' or 'disagree' though - there's no such thing as 'fully qualified' in this country and no authority (as of yet) that has the right to decide what counts as such. End of story.

Don’t get taken for a ride by electrical ‘Rogue Trainers’ urges industry body

Statements like this that are factually false but get bandied about: "becoming a fully qualified electrician can only be achieved with valid on-site work experience". There's no such thing as 'fully qualified', it literally doesn't exist because the profession is unregulated in this country...

What the hell has happened to the 18th edition course

I've been to three different unis, three different subjects and had over a dozen different lecturers. My wife has also been to two different unis on two different subjects and my father in law is a lecturer. University lecturers are not teachers. When you start uni they specifically and...

What the hell has happened to the 18th edition course

That is literally what a lecture is - someone reading at you from a screen. It's not the lecturer, it's lectures themselves, that's literally what they are. Trust me when i say uni 'tuition' fees are going towards basically nothing.

What the hell has happened to the 18th edition course

If you think that's bad never go to uni. £9k a year 'tuition' to have someone powerpoint a few pages from a book at you and then you're on your own.

Good Old Delroy, he gets all the best Jobs :)

Totally agree. I've always said it's not time served that makes your work good - if you care about good work you'll find out how it's done and make it good. It's people who can't be arsed or who take shortcuts who do bad work irrespective of their qualifications. It's not like short courses are...

I'd be glad if it was me, good learning opportunity.

Don’t get taken for a ride by electrical ‘Rogue Trainers’ urges industry body

No they really don't - you're just an awarding body with no authority in law. No different to NICEIC. Until there are laws governing competence like with GasSafe there is no standard. This is just a fact no matter how many organisations step up and say they are setting the standards. If you...

Need of answers about abroad apprenticeship

Finish your apprenticeship where you are and then Australia will welcome you with open arms. Otherwise your idea seems fairly impossible.

    Where's the earth go?

Well this is in my own house. Fitting is 2m up so no chance the kids can touch it but i think i might wago a bit of earth wire in there just for peace of mind. Gonna get a lad at work to rewire it with me eventually because it badly needs it. RCD protection is in place though so it's OK for now...

Don’t get taken for a ride by electrical ‘Rogue Trainers’ urges industry body

"Importantly, the routes clearly stress that becoming a fully qualified electrician can only be achieved with valid on-site work experience, as opposed to courses that offer no ‘real world’ practical skills." There is no standard, body, qualification or overseeing authority that defines 'fully...

    Wiring light switch

The blue/black are just the neutrals that have to be linked together, they don't usually go into the backs of the switches.

    Where's the earth go?

Earth has been snipped off, obviously. I thought that earth wasn't required since the connections appear to be in some sort of maintenance free box, but is this right? If not, i can't see anywhere the earth could go. EDIT just clocked the double insulated symbol, so i'm presuming that even...

Good Old Delroy, he gets all the best Jobs :)

Haha yes i remember that was one of the first i saw, quickly followed by the one where he made an absolute c*** of a bathroom shaver socket. Seems a decent fella but i wouldn't copy any of his methods.
