    Which screwdrivers?

I seem to get through so many 4mm slotted drivers. I currently use Irazola/Bahco. Is there anything tougher out there?

    Loft Sockets

I s'pose from a diy point of view, the fewer connections done diy stylee (particularly in a ring main) the better :-)

This area seems grey, can you are can't you? Part P.

That's good then. All the jobs I've done have had them involved already with the building work so I've not tried just asking them about about an electrical installation separately. Maybe I shall try this... maybe none of us need the scams after all??

    Loft Sockets

Why not just wire the two cables you've cut (assuming they're in the loft already? ) into a socket (single or double) and just plug in a 4-way lead?? Would be fine if you're just running a power supply for cameras and DVR....

This area seems grey, can you are can't you? Part P.

Well, obviously, I will have nothing to do with the NIC.... Does the £288 include assessments or are they extra? Are there any other running costs? It's all new to me...been mainly working on newbuilds/renovations where building control are already involved (so no extra fee!) and they are...

This area seems grey, can you are can't you? Part P.

Stroma membership for £288. Seems cheap enough, what other ongoing costs are involved here? I've managed without a CPS for years but if costs are really that low now days then I may consider joining...

Which Electrical Body Are You With?

I'm with none. Never have been. Part P happened shortly after I spent thousands on training courses to get qualified. Really P*ssed me off! However, LBC are happy with my certs so who needs it? Got more work than I need and don't need a sticker for my van :-)

    SWA to Switch?

Don't you start Biff !! There's no 'reluctance' about it. I'd rather not have a fused switch at BOTH ends of the SWA. Therefore, looking for the best way to achieve this, ie. connect the 10mm SWA into 25mm tails. If the only way is another switch then so be it... just asking if anyone has an...

    SWA to Switch?

Doesn't that just make the Cert more complicated? Only gives you space to record one isolator !

    SWA to Switch?

Long way from Penzance mate! :-)

    SWA to Switch?

Because I already have one of these at origin of supply. Don't need another!!

    SWA to Switch?

My SWA is 10mm, with 63A fuse at origin. My tails are 25mm. CR, are you a real Cockney Reject? I suspect not... but what a great band they were! :-)

    SWA to Switch?

I'm afraid that like most wholesalers these days, they employ 'ordinary' staff rather than ex-electricians like in the good 'ol days! I rarely ask such questions at wholesalers because they're usually met with a blank stare. I like to know what I'm after BEFORE I visit or call the wholesalers...

    SWA to Switch?

Sounds good but not something I'm familiar with. Do you have a link to show me these connectors? Thanks :-)

    SWA to Switch?

The consumer unit is already in place, with the tails coming out into an exterior meter box straight into henley blocks. ( this used to house the main cut-out & meter, while the main property was being built)

    SWA to Switch?

No Sintra, it's two core 10mm swa. I have now had PME connected so will export this to the outbuilding as the TT reading is too difficult to get below 800ohms. Will be running a separate CPC.

    SWA to Switch?

Anyhoo... another question for anyone good enough to give me a sensible reply! :-) Back to the original post..... What would you do at the other end of my SWA cable? The swa neets to connect into two henly blocks. (no switch inbetween) Whats the best way of acheiving this? In the past, I...

    SWA to Switch?

I was hoping it would be as simple as just plugging it in, but apparently it's not working. However, I've just found some more info I didn't have for the net monitor so hopefully I'll crack it next time I'm there. The heating's off at the mo because the carpet fitters decided to fit the wrong...

    SWA to Switch?

Sintra, you did offer me good advice and for that I thank you :-) I'm all up for a bit of banter, but some take this too far particularly with new or less frequent visitors to the forum. So much so that some folk coming to the forum for helpful advice end up leaving with NO advice given at...
