    Latest Acquisition and it's mint.

The original picture looks similar to the PO ohmmeter 18a 'megger'. That used a 9v battery.

Brushless motor battery drills - unsatisfactory speed control, or just this model?

Apologies for resurrecting an older thread but this is my experience with the Makita rotary hammers DHR202 (brushed) and DHR242 (brushless) of which I have both. As previously mentioned the brushed motor speed is infinitely controllable as opposed to the brushless model. The two models are of a...

Game Changers - The successes and the flops?

I also have tried Li-ion and NiMH PP3 size batteries too that work fine.

Game Changers - The successes and the flops?

That's my experience too. I don't buy the older type now. I find the Amazon Basic range seem to be rebadged Eneloops as the ones I have are made in Japan and perform the same.

    Fluke 87v multimeter recall

I have the 87V and I just checked the S/N but mine is older so should be fine. I still did the test though and it passed. Nice to see Fluke is looking after their customers.

Game Changers - The successes and the flops?

For me it's Li-ion powered tools. I still remember Ni-cad and NiMh drills that had generally gone flat when you wanted to use them. I still have my rawl plugging tool and brace and bit drill but it has been a long time since I used them. Any one still use their 'Yankee' screwdriver?

    All about resistors...

I would be interested too. I think the last thing I hacked was to use a hex editor to remove the reprogramming lock on a two-way radio.

    Welding equipment - DNO permission?

I have heard that they have banned the sale of new transformer-based machines from the beginning of the year. Apparently a European directive and we have followed suit. Only inverter based welders from now on. The larger of the single phase welders will need a 16A or 32A socket setup though.

Is this tester a game changer

I have the Megger 1741+ and find it a good machine. The MFT-X1 looks a bit garish looking in my opinion.

Should the frequency of the square wave and the sine wave be the same?

Sometimes I find if I get stuck on a fault, is to sleep on it. Many a time the next morning, I go straight to it and find the problem.
