It was just to keep them going but also I think its shown that the motor may be ok
I have 2 new overloads fitted spaced all of them so there is an air gap , set it slightly below rated current, and in manual reset
Part of the problem is the overloads were set to auto reset and when they...
Also when the overload failed there were no spares, so as a test ran it directly off the relay for a few hours until got a replacement, monitored the current / voltage to see if the motor was behaving and not seen anything strange, so to me it points back to the overloads again,
Agree 100% and have been constantly checking things for 2 days , not seen anything unusual at all
As I said before after all checks the Overloads that have tripped have done so when it's set at just over 1 A,
I've had clampmeters on and watched and it's never gone above the running current...
Yes checked switching ratings of contactors
These are standard components for this firm
As said before this company builds big and complex systems usually longer than this a
I'm thinking it's a straightforward thing
Replace hot and heat damaged overloads as one has already failed
Change PLC program to give a longer delay to ensure there aren't too many boxes on conveyor at any time and then monitor temperature in the panel and motors to see if the heat is a...
400v 3~
Checked gearboxes, listened to them ,temps and turned all by hand nothing except for a very slight leak of oil on one gearbox
Maintenance team not experienced electrically, they try their best I think....
As I said the contactor switching rapidly when there is a build up of boxes...
I'm looking at a German made roller conveyor system 10 motors contactors controlled by a PLC
Issue is customer says 3 mths ago motors started stopping and overheating, and would then start again when cooled down
Overloads trip out PLC, input switches contactors off and someone presses reset...
The original motor is ok I tested it on the bench, no burnt varnish smell then connected it runs well, gearbox fine,
only reason I didn't put it back on the machine was because I'd been told not to
I'd normally think that someone messed up with the max current parameter or some other...
Evening all
Had a problem this week which has puzzled me a bit
Installed a machine last week which has 2 sides to it both doing the same operation
It ran perfectly for 19 hrs and then one side stopped working
I was away from the site and the maintenance guy called me so I got him to open the...
When I was 4 our Mum used to give us a sharp knife to help chop carrots for tea under supervision of course with the warning be careful with it you'll cut yourself and it will hurt!
I've heard its long been common practice in some countries like Sweden
All my family did it , we all got...
Always used hacksaw myself but if it's for other things I'd be Plus one for bandsaw simply because you don't need hot works permits
Been on sites which have a cut off time and also no permits issued on a weekend
Quite annoying having to wait until Monday to do a cut
Tried that didn't go well!

Think I'm going to try a low tech version of a box spanner with one side cut off
I have a cheap one I'll butcher first
Also I'm going to get a couple of cheap 12 point crowsfoot spanner 8mm 12mm 16mm and a 3/8 " drive screwdriver and see how they work...
The driver is Wera rebadged as Phoenix contact and slightly different colour
I have looked at Wera tools they have the driver but I haven't seen the teardrop cam that goes with it ( interchangeable two sizes)
Design is ok i do have one but I don't think they are small enough , connector sizes we use are M8 to M12 ,
M16 is used but tightening these isn't bad as usually more space around them
However some of the newer machines all sensor cables are connected to the side of the panel with quite...
I know what your saying , the Phoenix contact version does work on both types, the knurled ones I've seen have a slight hex shape and there's an edge the hook catches on allowing it to turn although I'm not sure if it's meant to be used on this type
Just as ever with specialist tools the catch...
You don't sound at all vindictive Peg !:D
Yes I thought the same
ie slot some long reach sockets or box spanners, not sure they'd work on some as they have knurling and a less definitive hexagonal shape, but I'll probably try this first
Does anyone know of a tool for tightening up the barrel of DIN type cable connectors
Company I work for now uses a lot of this type of connection often with limited access for fingers
I've seen a phoenix contact version with a hex screwdriver and a cam which slides on to the end , this hooks on...
I actually wanted to do bomb disposal that was until I went to the Army careers office
The NCO said it's an interesting job , Technical too! , come back next week and you can have a chat with my colleague who's spent 15 years doing it!
Went back the following week met the guy who'd got 4...
