Just to lob my own stone in the pond....was ELECSA, now STROMA. Nothing wrong with ELECSA but now I'm semi-retired so need to reduce costs. STROMA assessments are more stringent and their back-up ain't so good - 20 minutes hanging on the phone is typical. That said, STROMA is a far larger...
Here's one for you that I've found to be really useful:
I keep a daily record of journeys - date, mileage, destination, time out, time in..
Perhaps a tad over the top but invaluable if you can't remember where you've been on a particular date...
Recently came across a downstairs cloakroom in which all the lights, switches and extractor fan had been connected up with bell wire... including a weird microswitch arrangement for turning on the fan when the door opened...

I saw Western Power fit an isolator - as you say he put on his bomb-proof suit and helmet to carry out the work...Consumer Unit wasn't even fitted so no load whatsoever... He wasn't a qualified electrician either!
Client of mine requested Scottish power to fit an isolator so we could change the board. Nobody turned up on the day and chasing up SP they said they no longer fitted isolators...
So OP posting disappointing but not surprising....
