RCD's how to test and when required, and what code?

In my opinion, BS 7671 is for guidance & is not a Statutory Document. However, the regs have always been left to the interpretation of the individual Electrician. I think we have all learned something from the latest RCD's & how we test. I recently purchased a Metrel MFT & if I test an A type at...

    Critical load from PV battery

As you are having the PV installation done I suggest you make sure with the installer what you are requesting and they can recommend a transfer switch if needed fit & test the whole installation & issue certification for your own guarantee & piece of mind.

    Critical load from PV battery

What inverter is your PV going to be connecting to? I'm no expert but I would say normally the inverter controls the PV power & battery charging, then you would have management add-ons like Harvi & Eddi etc which divert power around the house to make the most use of available free power. I...

Multiple sub mains, how would you do it ?

I personally would run a 2nd sub-main to the summerhouse allowing for additional loading, you know they are going to plug other items in at some point.

    Industrial socket cable calculation

I would not be happy installing a 125A socket outside without adequate protection & local isolation. I would also ask for details of equipment & maximum demand of the cabin installation, a question often asked by your DNO before connecting a supply. I would then feel that I have designed &...

    Industrial socket cable calculation

So Mr Client is going to site his cabin & plug it into your socket in the vicinity. Hopefully, your socket is in an External; weatherproof Cabinet. I think this whole scheme is madness to allow a third party access to your equipment to connect a 3 Phase supply of that rating. I would be asking...

    Industrial socket cable calculation

Maximum demand for cable then? Seems a bit of a strange setup. What about Isolation, other than a MCCB. Need to know the whole installation design?

2365 design drawing level 3 Project

I would think that the 32A radials should be 4mm minimum in insulation & the deeper the insulation even a 6mm. Why 2 radials for a Hotel, is this just one room or do you have to cook your own dinner & plug in your kettle?

    BILL bus bar chamber clamps.

I have Bill Busbar / switchgear 1200A 3phase and inside the Chamber, they are solid round copper conductors from memory 3/4"or larger. I had to improvise with something that resembled a chrome exhaust clamp. Not ideal but been working for years now .

Are you replacing type AC RCD's with Type A?

If you have a Type AC RCD at the D/board & decide to install an extra circuit or spur with a 13 Amp 2 Gang RCD Socket. Are the RCD sockets Type A now as I guess there are old stock AC types about ? According to this diagram co-ordination is vital.
