"Pretty" or "Smart" consumer unit options.

This is a hotly contested debate amongst electricians. Dual RCD & split load boards were popular under previous versions of BS7671. Whilst these never really met the requirements for division of circuits, they were a safe compromise. It should be recognised though, especially since RCBOs are so...

RCBO for Memera 2000 is discontinued, is it ok to buy used one off eBay?

Probably the answer would be not okay. You will take a chance on its functioning correctly, & would you be asking an Electrician to install & test it as they would probably decline? Also, Memera 2000 has been around since 2009 , unlucky 13 years old.

Cheapest/easiest way to replace these spot lights

Depending on what rooms or loft is above the ceiling. I suggest you change them all for LED fire-rated fittings anyway. Looks like you have mains GU10 quite old now. You can just replace the bulbs for LED ones but you need to check if they are mains of low voltage lamps & also, are they on a...

    Wire Strippers - which ones?

I have a pair of CK strippers, but owing to arthritis I have found Bahco 2233D-180 to be the best yet, amazing how sharp & lightweight in the hand, will cut through 10mm like butter. they are 160mm in length but you can get larger ones. Also found these Vcelink that may help to stip in...

Measuring 3 phase usage with a clamp meter?

Depending on what Hager DB you have, Hager does a meter that fits alongside the Main Incomer. Probably expensive. I can't see a clamp or C T's working around a shielded SWA cable. You can put a CT around each phase coupled to a remote meter.

SWA Carrying DC - Correct way to earth

In my opinion 1. Earthing at the inverter for DC fault protection . 2. As long as the loads are balanced surely no different to 3Phase.

putting outdoor 100w floodlights on plugs

If the light posts are metal, & as this is a public place I believe this becomes a special location Bs7671 section 714 applies. I know it can be expensive but , I think you ought to get the works done professionally & certified. RCD protection clarified. Over the years there have been a lot of...

Where is it acceptable to run mini trunking?

I agree it may look better along skirting, although the trunking has been installed correctly within a save or prescribed zone, horizontally between accessories. I may be wrong but this probably applies more to the cable being buried in the wall. See link. Cables Concealed in Walls or...
