When does labelling have priority over colour coding??

I think you would give the labels priority in this case. The conductors can be any colour as long as they are labeled correctly, the phases are Line 1 Line 2 & Line 3. Not brown, black and grey.. You should always check the rotation of a motor when you 1st turn it on anyway, even if coloured...

    The labeling is certainly unambiguous.

    Coding question - 8.5kw shower, B32

I suppose it falls foul of 433.1, Coordination between conductor and overload protective device Every circuit shall be designed so that a small overload of long duration is unlikely to occur. 433.1.1 This is a small overload which will probably never cause the MCB to operate, so code 3 for me.

    Coding question - 8.5kw shower, B32

Well there's certainly a discussion to be had I suppose, but if we're talking about an EICR I don't see a problem, and I don't understand why you would look for damage to a cable being utilised below it's ccc. Like I said, I've had a scotch, or 2, and I probably shouldn't be anywhere near a...

    Coding question - 8.5kw shower, B32

I’m sure I’ve completely misunderstood this thread, and I’ve read through it a couple of times, but I have had a couple of scotches. We’re saying that, and I’m taking everything written as correct, that we have a cable rated at 47a, protected by a 32a mcb and we’re looking to give it a code 2...

EICR RCD 63A exceeded by breaker total code

True Loz but the OP was just adding up the ratings of the MCBs and the boards illustrated both come with MCBs totalling near or over 200a. So it would be impossible to satisfy the regs as being described here. I take peoples point here but on PIRs I'll still use my judgement to determine...

EICR RCD 63A exceeded by breaker total code

Thanks for that clarification Westward, I suppose that a board with a 100a main switch and 2 x RCDs is designed for a fairly balanced load over the two RCDs. I don't think I'll be coding this anytime soon unless I think one of the RCDs is likely to have more than 63a running through it by...

EICR RCD 63A exceeded by breaker total code

You may well be right Ian, but my point is that if you purchase and fit a new populated board such as below, you would need to put down the RCDs as a departure from the reg's. I would say that they were manufactured to a BS and fitted as per manufacturer's instructions.

EICR RCD 63A exceeded by breaker total code

If a 63a rated RCD gets a C3, then a lot , if not most, new populated boards supplied now would warrant a C3 the minute they are fitted. I would say that if a board comes with 2 x 632 RCDs then that is as manufactured and attracts no code whatsoever. The 63a refers to the current that it can...

    UK MK RCDs

I think that's what he purchased Westward and he doesn't want to move the SPD for some reason. Although it looks like it will easily move to the left of the main switch and then just fit a MK busbar.

    Lap mcbs

The danger lies in badly fitted components, but the main reason that you don't put other manufacturers parts in someone else's board is that if it is a Hagar board, for example, it will no longer be a Hagar board once you have fitted your Wylex mcb, it becomes a LastManOnline manufactured board...

    Lap mcbs

Leaving aside the quality of Lap products, if you can't buy a Lap mcb then a stand alone switch fuse would be a way forward if there's room. Of course usual caveats apply, suitability of supply, earth, bonding, room etc etc.

How good is underfloor heating in a large room

It's not as simple as working out the full load then multiplying this by the hours that you have it on. As already mentioned previously in this thread by others, a massive factor is insulation. A 200w/m mat will take more power than a 100w/m mat, obviously, but it will heat faster and bring the...

    Commercial vehicle break down cover

Interesting thread, I have breakdown cover through my Nationwide account. This thread has prompted me to look again and I too can get the Start Rescue...
