UK Can a 10mm2 Shower feed and a 1.5mm2 switched live for the lights be in the same wall chase?

The original post has been edited now and the reference removed so I can't re-check what was actually said, and this does rather makes it look as though my comment came from nowhere. From the other factors/ideas mentioned I assumed it wouldn't be earthed and they were thinking of indent (v), but...

UK Can a 10mm2 Shower feed and a 1.5mm2 switched live for the lights be in the same wall chase?

Assuming the supply for shower is coming from below, it sounds as though you want to first fix the cable up to back box, and cable from back box to loft with decent length ready for future shower. Circuit can be disconnected at CU until you are ready. Then you can plaster before shower is...

UK Can a 10mm2 Shower feed and a 1.5mm2 switched live for the lights be in the same wall chase?

It's not ideal but they could share a chase. If you use a big enough light switch box it could pass through it. I'd prefer to get the shower in it's own chase. Terminating 10mm in ceiling shower isolators is unpleasant at best and rarely done well. If close to a wall it can very difficult to...

    TT or PME?

To give you some idea....with my DNO, the question "Can you see arcing, sparking or smoking?" is 3.5 minutes into the automated call answering system. The call handlers are trained that the default position is "We don't/didn't supply an earth". To get anything sensible/useful you have to either...

Why are the lights not working!!!!!

You been watching David Savery?! His last video was very enlightening

Why are the lights not working!!!!!

The era has largely passed now, but certain RCDs e.g. Square D can be affected by the radio signal from Smart Meters, causing endless confusion. So a tripping RCD and a brand new smart meter is a combination to raise an eyebrow at.

Why are the lights not working!!!!!

I hate intermittent faults. I've had two tripping RCDs this week, and whenever I'm there there is adequate IR results and negligible earth leakage results. No smart meter. Everything visible plugged in and running, all lights turned on. One one of them I've rigged up a temp board with fridge...

    Dodgy PME?

It's also possible that whoever fitted the MK removed an up front RCD or VOELCB that was in the way. Worth a look to see if there is a likely looking earth conductor in the Wylex. Ultimately this is all going one of two ways: -DNO may deign to supply an earth (free if you are very lucky, or...

    Extending sub main

I'm not immediately baulking at the resin joint idea. If done right (crimped) it should be trouble free forever, after all they are normally buried for decades! It's then effectively the same cable and should fit behind the 3mm plate.

Sorry Brian - what a marathon, I really hope all settles down soon....

Almost qualified, but low on confidence

It sounds as though you are good at the parts that many find harder, and a little slower than some at other things. I wouldn't let it bother you. You will soon find things on the installation side that you have a natural knack for. One of my local competitors can throw up galv conduit as though...

Why are the lights not working!!!!!

By the way, those fly leads are a truly shocking colour. Reminds me of school dinners and some cheap powdered desert they used to slop out, was it called Instant Whip?!

Why are the lights not working!!!!!

(It's probable that some of the RCBO's test button don't work because the N fly leads aren't connected and are taped up underneath. Could also be why your attempted cct move failed)

Why are the lights not working!!!!!

240v on the N terminal of the RCBO makes my mind jump to faulty RCBO, poor termination of RCBO N fly lead, or wider issue with N of the installation.

Father’s Day breakfast at my fave cafe with my 8 yr old. His big sisters are still in bed! Smoked salmon and spinach muffin with hash brown and fried egg on the side. I can take on the world now!

    Light Switch Help Please

If this is upstairs I’d run a new circuit to a quickwire in the loft, and probably replace the fitting using a quinetic switch. I wouldn’t open any accessory I couldn’t open carefully and tentatively as it isn’t worth the risk. Yes, it might all stay intact but if it doesn’t the can of worms is...

2 gang 2 way switch with a single rocker

I did wonder about a fan isolator but thought the 2 way element of the question ruled it out - interesting if there is a 2 way version out there, I need to find that now!

2 gang 2 way switch with a single rocker

We like crazy! You could also consider contactors, or two Quinetic switches paired with one receiver. Or araldite a piece of spam across both switches.

2 gang 2 way switch with a single rocker

There will be a way of doing this, but maybe explain what you are wanting to achieve as we could be leading you up the garden path when there's an easier solution. It sounds as though there is a simpler solution! Why can't you use a 1 gang two way switch to switch both loads? Are they on...
