    You'd think part of their production process would involve updating their databases with the new serial numbers. In fact it ought to be an automatic part of that, or at least part of the goods in/out dispatch process.

    As above - you can install and certify (to latest regs), but the work is notifiable as per Part P. So either through an approved body (NAPIT etc), or via the building control dept of your local council.

    The voltage rating on the cable appears OK, having said that there's plenty if dubious Chinese cable about.

    That's the wattage at 24V. The mains supply voltage is higher, and so the current drawn from the mains will be lower. Do the sums again but with the 240V mains voltage. There will be some power lost in the power supply unit, but fairly negligible.
