So if there are dodgy DNO rods out there leading to a very high ELFI - Isn’t a Ze test more meaningful (and important) than a dead Ra test? After all, the touch voltage and the successful operation of the RCD depends on the EFLI being low enough. You could have the best customer earth rod in the...
I also got a tingle off a reduced height RCBO fly lead before Christmas (think it was a Hager but it could have been a Crabtree, can't remember which) . Didn't think much into at the time because I was in a massive hurry...
It stands to reason that all RCBOs made this way will have the same issue.
An update - after a bit of pressure, the goods finally arrived. The Megaman LED lamps that should be included in the kit were all missing, when I raised this with Element Lighting they have offered to credit back, but I have yet to see it.
So, whilst I would still strongly recommend NOT using...
Debit card..... you live and learn. Apparently there is a scheme with some banks where they can ‘chargeback’ and recover the money. I’ll have to give them a few more weeks before I can start this process though.
Hi all,
Hope this doesn’t contravene forum rules, but thought I should send out a warning. I think I have been scammed by a dodgy website:
https://www.elementlighting.co.uk/
The Website seems fine. A month ago I ordered over £200 of track lighting for a job and I’ve been chasing it ever since...
Gavin - top marks for heat gun problem solving, but if BG boards are made that badly, why on earth are you still fitting them??!? A few quid more gets a nice board like Hager that all clicks together lovely (with straight breakers too, not leaning over like MK!)
OP - normally gentle...
I sheared off a bit holder in my makita impact driver. I disassembled the chuck and got the broken bit out, but it never went back together the same, the bits kept falling out the end! . Thankfully it was 11 months and 3 weeks old so it went back to makita who very kindly fitted a new chuck!
I agree with the earth leakage clamp approach to see where the leakage is coming from. Could be cumulative across that many final circuits, without tripping individual RCBOs. I've seen 'normal' leakage on a 7-way board cause a 30mA incomer to nuisance trip, so it's feasible that all your final...
I agree mate. The bean counters just see turnover and profit-and-loss sheets... the reality is that if we (I.e. sole trader electrician) got hit by a bus or abducted by aliens, the business would cease to exist and be worth nothing.
The client base might be worth something for repeat business...
Hey, if you get fed up at the old folks home you can always go back to what you were doing. I bet your phone will still be ringing for months with enquiries.
So I went for it in the end.
Not finished labelling or tidying cables round top, but I don’t think it looks too bad fitted in portrait. Hager even put their logo on the right way for me!
What a bunch of bar stewards.
But also, what a bunch of rookies - at least make the scams more believable! I could do a much better job, if i was that way inclined.
In fact, after crawling around in a dusty itchy loft for the last 5 days, cyber crime is starting to look like a more attractive...
just received an email that got my spider-sense tingling. The wording is odd, and there is nothing specific in the email like, where they live, or a phone number, or who recommended me.
I’ve had mailshots before thanks to being listed on CPS websites and ESR, but never one like this. See what...
