Silly mistake. Sort of thing you do under pressure I suppose?
I disconnected the ring to test it separately after I had done a global test on the board.
Yeah, I removed the fly leads completely. I just missed putting the cpc from the disconnected ring final from the RCBO. Like I say the only thing I can think I didn’t do. Silly thing to miss and fail on. Get it the next time
hi all,
Failed my AM2 on IR test.
Just a query do you have to remove both the nuetral and the cpc fly lead from RCBO when doing a global test? I did this but I did not put the cpc from the ring final in to the MET bar. I tested the ring circuit, motor and strappers separately. That’s the only...
Silver lining is, if I did fail safe isolation. Then I would only have to retake that particular section. Wouldn’t have to do the lot. So, not a massive deal. Just a bit daft! Oh well, life goes on.
Just nerves more than anything. I was the first person to do it, first thing in the morning. Literally as soon as I did it thought woops. Everything else went good with the install. Just doing my nut in thinking about it. Would be a daft thing to have a retake on. I suppose you can only...
But, there would be nothing on the outgoing. There is a isolator that feeds the board. I turned the isolator off and locked off. The board had no breakers or circuits. So, nothing would ever of been coming through the neutral. Don’t know why I did it. The examiner didn’t say anything, but, then...
Hi everyone.
I am currently doing my am2. Did they safe isolation today.
Not sure if I messed it up. For some reason I took the protective neutral cover off from the board then performed the 10 step isolation. I asked permission to isolate, labelled with warning signs and put key in pocket...
I reckon I could take him!!
Thanks for the replies, real helpful.
Hoping the nerves don’t get the better of me and make some stupid mistakes. Or just go blank.
Just wanted clarification on what can be done with IR test and the rcbo. And testing through the motor. My questions have well and truly been answered. As long as I know that it is acceptable to change the rcbo for b32 and fine to ask the examiner to hold the contractor on the motor down or even...
Great,
Really good advice, much appreciated!
So, you can literally do a global test in the whole board. Once c02, heating etc is isolated.
That saves a lot of time.
Hi,
Would be good if I could just take the rcbo out completely and replace with a b32 just for test purposes. That way I could just do a global IR test on the whole installation. Obviously disconnect sensitive devices, C02, heating etc. Would you advise actually disconnecting the leg that runs...
Thanks!
Great advice. Did you not megger the whole installation then for the IR test? Did you test every circuit individually?
In my head I was thinking of doing a universal IR test. Also, did you do an IR test on the main l1-l2, l1-l3,l2-l3? If that makes sense
hi all,
Have my am2 next week... just brushing up on a few things.
Was looking for some advice on IR test on the whole consumer unit with a RCBO.
Is it ok to just remove the fly leads from RCBO or is it ok to disconnect and test live to neutral, live to earth, earth to neutral etc from the...
