    There’s a guy around my area, that is with any CPS, it he still does ‘notifiable’ work, but goes back a week later and carry’s out a full EICR for the customer, he’s been doing this for years and the LABC have never said a word about him or done anything.

    EV chargers are “notifiable jobs’ as they need their own circuit, are you a member of a CPS scheme? Do you have an MFT that can test EV chargers? I personally don’t do ’mates rates’, causes too many issues further down the line, if I don’t do the job, they’ll have to pay full price anyway.

    Agreed if you fit a new 3 pin plug, I don’t like the moulded plugs personally, as I can’t inspect the cable connections inside, but,if you then hardwire it, you’re going against manufacturers instructions.

    If the manufacturer recommends/states its ok to use a 13amp plug, then that’s what you do, always follow the manufacturers instructions,then you’re covered, cut the plug off and wire it differently,then you’ve voided the warranty and ‘IF’ anything does go wrong,then you’re to blame.

    You could always just pay your LABC fee, anywhere from £100-£400, dependant on where you live, if it‘s a one off notifiable job, then this fee will be les than a CPS joining fee and MUCH less than paying someone else to notify for you.
