Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

No porkies from me- Pulled from council website: "Why has the Council withdrawn from providing the Stair Lighting Service? The Council needs to make savings of £148 million over the next four years and as part of the savings proposal, the Council will no longer...

Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

We don't pay a maintenance fee, owners are responsible for the communal areas. The only thing we pay is for stair cleaning but that's because an owner could be bothered to set this up. If there are any issues we get in the relevant trademan. This is scotland by the way perhaps things are...

Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

it isn't a council flat, its a private block. Council's suggestion is get in an electrician, but presumably they would change the tubes without cutting the power then as they wouldn't have a key.

Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

Ha ha surely the council would approve me to do this if I had the vest :( Below is what the council say on the matter, copied from their website: "Where can owners obtain security drivers/keys to access the stair lighting installation? For Health and Safety reasons the Council cannot advise...

Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

This was a picture I pulled from the internet as the lock looks similar in that it has the straight grooves at 12 and 3 but I don't know if the key would be milled like this. If the council will no longer take care of the lights who's got the keys!? Thats why I thought it must be a simple lock.

Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

Seems like a straightforward job but would feel more comfortable if I could isolate the fitting. Council no longer wants to do it and why pay an electrician £40+ to change a light bulb.

Flat communal stair lighting breaker box key

Hi all, Does anyone know where I can find a key that would fit a lock like that shown in the attached image? This sort of 2 prong lock is on an electrical cabinet in our communal stair and houses the circuit breakers for the lights. I want to cut the relevant circuit so I can change the...

Ever heard of a recirculating ceiling fan

It's a long story but it's not my fan it my neighbour below and he showed me the fan from a distance but as I say just looks like a rather large axial or centrifugal fan. The agency have said it of the recirculation type and that came from their electrician apparently I just don't get how it can...

Ever heard of a recirculating ceiling fan

Hi all, Is there such a thing as a recirculating ceiling mounted kitchen extractor fan? The one i have been told about and seen from a distance is ceiling mounted, perhaps 25cm(L)x15cm(W)x10cm(D) and basically looks like a centrifugal fan but i've been told its of the recirculating type. My...

    Extractor fan advice

Sorry just checked its a 130W motor and says 210W total-assume thats total power consumption, don't know where i got 16W from! I'll see if i can find some semi rigid aluminium ducting, that would look the best and find a way to attach it to the ceiling duct and if possible get a non-return...

    Extractor fan advice

Hi Richard, Yes i'm not sure how powerful it is i can't find a user manual for the hood online anywhere. Its a Blanco Be 01/r and has 16W output, 3 speed settings. Even from that though i probably can't easily estimate how effective or not it will be without trying it. I can't see that there...

    Extractor fan advice

Hi all, My flat's kitchen has an integrated extractor hood currently setup as a recirculator. Above this on the ceiling but slightly offset from the extractor hood is an axial fan connected to ducting to exterior wall via about 3-4m of ducting with 2 90 degree bends. I'm thinking of changing...

Leaving bulbs out of light fittings

Ok what would you like to know? It's a ceiling fitting which takes 4 gu10 type bulbs, it did have 4 halogen 35w spot lights and I've replaced with 5w LED spots. The LED bulbs are from ikea. thanks

Leaving bulbs out of light fittings

Hi all, i've heard that if you have say a four bulb light fitting and you leave one or multiple bulbs out this can cause the bulbs that are there to fail early because they draw more current. Is there any truth in this? Don't they draw a constant current no matter how many bulbs there are? I'm...
