    How to remove plaster dust

Well they played fill the sockets. The electrician told them not to fill the sockets but it seems it falls on deaf ears. I think I will have to clean out the sockets before the electrician returns for the second fix.

    How to remove plaster dust

No we are going to put underlay down and carpets but the wood seems ruined. It never crossed my mind the amount of dust - I have never had a big plaster job done.

    How to remove plaster dust

My word the plasterers left a bit of a mess - the wooden floorboards were caked in plaster dust. I have hoovered up three times and brushed hard but it seems ground in. How can I remove it? I tried a mop but it made no difference. Is there some sort of chemical I can use? Or will I need to...

When do I start painting and call the electrician back for second fix?

So my plasterers have nearly finished plastering. All new skim plaster on plasterboards. Now I know I have to wait a week before I start painting. I was wondering when do I call my electrician back? After I have painted the walls or before I paint them? Now the electrician has left a point...

Running Network cable next to power cable?

It looks like the same grey power cable 2.5mm? That he has run to the outside and terminated in a grey junction box.

Running Network cable next to power cable?

So the electrician made a hole in the outside wall to run the cable for the floodlights and in the same hole he threaded through the CAT 6 cable (shielded outdoor cable) for the POE camera. Is this safe as I always thought you do not run network cable in the same conduit as electrical cables?

I just thought 9 was the standard time for any trades guy to start?

LED slim recessed round panel light

I dont think I ever want to do any house renovations ever again. The electrician and plumbers were on the whole straight forward to deal with. The electrician has always turned up bang on 9am to start a full days job. The builders were never in before 10 and left by 4!

LED slim recessed round panel light

So I am choosing my downlights and I was looking at the cylinder shaped fire rated downlights. The electrician mentioned look at LED slim recessed downlights as my new plasterboard ceiling would not be able to hold the weight of the standard fire rate downlights. One thing I didnt clarify - who...

Ethernet cable - twisted or solid core?

I have provisionally mapped out my network - the broadband will be coming in from the front hallway and from there it will be connected to the switch and other IT gear in the top shelf of the storage cupboard on the first floor. Now I cannot decide whether to go with solid core or twisted core...

Dot Dab Plaster wall - 35mm box? Plasterer at odds with electrician

I thought one benefit was having a little air gap of 10-15mm helps with insulation a bit like double glazing - but I may be totally wrong!

Dot Dab Plaster wall - 35mm box? Plasterer at odds with electrician

Just an update. Even though I specced it as 35mm I have decided to go with 25mm back boxes and slim profile face plates / sockets. I am on a schedule and I need the electrician to finish before the plasterer comes in with his team which I cannot delay as he has secured all the plaster so if I...

Dot Dab Plaster wall - 35mm box? Plasterer at odds with electrician

Thanks So it seems plasterer was correct - 10-15mm for adhesive, 12mm plasterboard, 3mm skim so about 25-30mm. I have just spoken to the electrician and he said he had quoted and assumed the new plasterbaord would cover 35mm - if I still want 35mm boxes then its extra or he can fit 25mm boxes...

Dot Dab Plaster wall - 35mm box? Plasterer at odds with electrician

How do I solve the impasse? I don't know who is right or wrong.

Dot Dab Plaster wall - 35mm box? Plasterer at odds with electrician

As part of my spec I said that I wanted 35mm back boxes. The walls have been taken back to the brick and will be dot and dabbed with plasterboard and then skim finished. Electrician said that he can just screw the backbox onto the wall without digging into the brick because onces its dotted and...

In what order should I do the electrics?

I am in tears at this description. The plasterers have shall I say been very rudimentary with the walls. What started off as just simple wall prep has ended up being taking it back to the brick, thankfully the ceilings will just be boarded over as the thought of all that lath and plaster being...

In what order should I do the electrics?

So the plasterers are getting on with their job of prepping the walls and are nearly done removing the old plaster - had to go back to the brick in some rooms or to just studwork as the lath and plaster was just crumbling away. Now it will be the electricians turn to remove all the old wiring...
