On a purely legal side of things I would be questioning the 17.5pkwh of electricity as that's quite expensive. The LL is not allowed to make profit on up selling you electricity.
13ish kWh isn't entirely unreasonable. Do you access to your meter and fuse boards?
It does mean when you have house fire the whole house power can be killed before fire fighters gain entry.
There plenty of better more solidly built boxes out there but as usual housebuilders will go with the cheapest possible option
Did you die? No therefore they did what there meant to and stopped you dieing. It's not there to stop you feeling pain or discomfort it's there to stop enough current flowing though you that could stop your heart beating ie no more than 30mA(depending on RCD rating). Any current flow less than...
Maybe be a bit more careful remember that an rcd won't protect you against a live neutral electric shock.
As other have said it probably that your not quite drawing enough current to begin with to trip the RCD
There one sub near my patch where someone fried them self's climbing up the equipment and left a foot print mark on kit.
They had pick pieces of the chap up.
We still get regular thief's on our subs even on sites with electric fences and remote camera monitoring.
Smart water ect doesn't work as there still scrap metal places that will take the copper.
Mind you scrap metal places are not as bad as pawn shops for stolen goods handling.
Martidales are very expensive for what they are but what we are required to use at work, so might be worth checking if your employer has any requirements.
Sorry no the most helpful of posts
I don't think it's necessary because of them expecting poor workmanship. It's just an additional safety precaution in case someone does make a slip up nobody's prefect, although it may have been overly cautious.
What's that old saying "if you haven't done anything wrong you haven't done anything"
Aye but sometimes if you offer them a
sweetener ie I can use this switch and saves you having a load of redecorating/plastering done you can change minds
As James says PLC or get them to use a different switch.
How about three of the kentic types switches and single receiver. But more expensive but no plaster work to fix
