    Reposition water service earth bond.

Yes that's what the plumber has done. It's all copper from the old stopcock to the new one so bonding will be ok to leave. Copper. Just going to leave current one in. Would have to be rewired. Looks like this shall be the plan. Thanks for your help folks.

    Reposition water service earth bond.

Had the plumber in today and have come across a problem with my stopcock. It basically won't close, stays open so he was going to replace it. As it's in a very awkward place he suggested repositioning it to a better place that's more accessible, ie underneath the sink. Now there's a 10mm earth...

    Shower very near fuse board!

Maybe it can but not by me, why would I want to take responsibility for a splash proof cover?!?! I'm giving a friend a hand. Normally I'm ok for finding info, in this case I wasn't sure & wanted a helping hand, is that so big a problem. You seem a bit of a... ah never mind. Do you go around...

    Shower very near fuse board!

It's not flush once the cover is on the board. It won't keep water & steam out. If the woman has the head of the shower off cleaning a dog, just say dog starts jumping about & struggling, good chance water will get into the board. Thanks for your reply. I'll have a good read of that section.

    Shower very near fuse board!

I've not had a new on site guide in about 4 years, I'm sure it's been updated by then, never got round to getting one as I normally find all information I need from various books I have in the house. To be honest referencing the on site guide (even if it's old) doesn't bother me, just the regs...

    Shower very near fuse board!

Great advice. I'm actually quite capable of reading the regs myself although I hate browsing it but there's no point in me doing it as you seem to be making up my mind for me! Was just wanting pointed in right direction as I thought someone a bit more familiar with them would save me a bit of...

    Shower very near fuse board!

Ok here's the scenario. Woman I know has a garage joined on to her house, she's went & put up a partition so that the garage is split in two as one room is now going to be a room used for a dog grooming business. In the room for the dog grooming she has a shower installed on one wall........the...

    15A rings?!

My worry is that it's not a ring & like has been says is spurs off spurs which have somehow become some sort of ring giving continuity. Safest option until it can be further investigated to put it them on 20A MCB's? Really not sure.

    15A rings?!

Definitely 2.5mm twin & earth! Well the lazy **** should have went back & changed it when he got the chance to save me scratching my head! lol. No, pattern at all. Some values are very similar then the odd on is at least twice the value of the others. See I was maybe thinking about just...

    15A rings?!

Went to swap over an old fuse board yesterday, whilst I was removing it there seemed to be 3 ring circuits each protected by a 15A fuse. There was two live ends coming from each fuse. Tested each of the live, neutral & earth end to see if there was continuity & there was. Now, there aren't a lot...

    Oil burner photo cell

Hi folks, pick your brains a wee bit here. Was looking at a converted Rayburn for someone today, the thing keeps locking out every so often. It's run of a programmer to a Danfoss controller onto the burner & oil pump etc. After a bit of investigating someone told me there's a good chance it...

    Earth Bonding garage framework required?

Should the framework for my garage door be bonded? It is just controlled manually, it's non-electric. The framework is just bolted to the blockwork? Pictures below.

    Combi Boiler Problem.

My boiler seems to be playing up. It's a Baxi Platinum Combi 40 HE A. Until recently it's been working fine but now I only get hot water when the heatings is turned on ie turn the stat up as there's no programmer. Any ideas?

Test Certification for new consumer unit

I can see your point yes. Everyone seems to have different ways of working. I also know of some sparks who fit the consumer unit, then carry out the EICR after they've done this & them issue both certificates. The person who told me just to use the EICR changes the board once he's made sure all...

Test Certification for new consumer unit

What if there are things you've observed after you've done the testing, surely the client needs to be notified.

Test Certification for new consumer unit

Whenever I've installed a new consumer unit I normally fill out an Electrical Installation Certificate & an Electrical Installation Condition Report but someone has told me this is too much & that all I need is the Electrical Installation Condition Report. Thoughts? I was under the impression...
