2396 style question, 2400, short circuit, RCBO,

One more bit of advice, know how to use a calculator inside out. I had my scientific calculator taken off me in the exam and was given one from toys r us. Hence no squared root button so had to work everything out manually! Was going to grab the examier but just bit my tongue!

Was in Kabul with Fluor in 2012. Have a look on their website. Think Kbr has work in Iraq as well. The gravey days may well be over tho.

Looks a squeeze, 240 swa thoughts.

Most of the Draw-works on drilling rigs are by forced ventilation tbh.

Hive receiver connections to Vaillant boiler

Where I live you have just broken the law by taking the front cover of a gas boiler if not Gas Safe registered!

Only problem being that the motor is certified and has only 2 x 75mm cables entries. The last motor of this size that I have worked on was 11kV. Do you have a picture of the motor information plate?

That's a lump of a motor, is it Ex d or n. Assuming the hazard is dust rather than gases?

    Terminal corrosion on AC compressors.

If this is a corrosion issue can you try a panel heater with thermostat? This has saved me in the past with a couple of external panels/ enclosures. With the fork crimps what about changing to bootlace ferrules?

City and Guilds Design, Erection and Verification (2396)

Best of luck with your quest! Found it hard enough to find a centre who runs it in Northern Ireland. It's a lot to take in for a week. Try the City & Guilds website as they might have a list of centres that are running the course.

    ATEX zone 1 classification

I would be checking the sites Zone Classification drawing. This should be in place and will detail any Zone extents. Radius may be smaller due to the fact there is natural ventilation.

    Intrinsically Safe blue cable

Not if the drawing is incorrect and you know it! Zenner barrier earths common with 'plant' earth instead of the 'clean' IS earth! As I have discovered after an instrument install was commissioned!

    CompEx 01-04 (Failed Ex04)

With 'Intrinsically Safe' keep an eye on the IS earth to make sure it is clean. From memory they always have an IS barrier turned upside down. Eg - Non IS circuit connected to the IS side of the barrier. Most guys do struggle with this part of the course. What centre did you take it in?

    2396, HNC - HND, opinions?

Where do you see yourself in 5, 10 years? I have recently completed the 2396, Heavy going but worth it in the end. Starting a Siemens plc course next week which should be another challenge.

    Pet Hates ( Excluding Customers)

One safety rep in particular thought it was a good idea to change a fluorescent lamp using a wheelie office chair as access. Oh the ironic look on his face lol
